Punishment for bad OF play and Goins actually being able to play SS:

 

 

Probably the plan all along. With 4 OFs, a backup infielder who can play ss in Goins and a better right-handed bench bat in Valencia, defensively mediocre super utility guy on the short side of the platoon is just not a need right now.

Hopefully he doesn't beat himself up over those plays because the honest truth is there was no room for him. Pillar is a better 4th OF, Goins a better backup shortstop and Valencia a better right-handed bat off the bench. He's a decent player for a very short bench or a 2nb base platoon but he's simply not needed here.

I don't mind Tolleson but with Valencia and Pillar as bench options he is useless to have. Good move.

today was not Tolleson's fault. he was put in a position to fail just as a stay of execution. He was getting released no matter what. shame they had to embarrass him first

It sucks that Tolleson can't play the outfield defensively like Pillar. This team has done a good job at getting rid of douchebags, making the team much more fun to watch. The only one that's really left is Pillar. Last years hiss fit definitely wasn't a one off thing, he seems like a cocky little prick. Tolleson seems all class, really wish him well.

Clearly lots of douchebags left, but if you look around the league, I'd say we are in the bottom half of douchebags to 25 man roster ratio.

I assume he plays good D since he's black...lol. But seriously, Pillar wasn't supposed to be this good on D although it's SSS.

Pillar is a MLB'er, just not as good as he thinks he is. Which can cause a problem. Needs to accept his role without complaint.
