Seems surprising to me for a team thin on OF depth.

Not sure how much help he could have provided, though. He's basically a frankenstein's monster who happens to be named Andy Dirks at this point.

He had back surgery and is out for the 2015 season. That's why the Jays released him.

Not surprised. With his back, he's a huge longshot to ever be effective again.
