We looked pretty atrocious in this series vs good pitchers. As soon as TB put a mediocre pitcher in we hammered him. Coincidence?

 

Well, it's obviously not coincidence. Good pitchers are better than bad pitchers lol. Just one of those series where things don't go well. Throw Martin, Bautista, Donaldson, Reyes and EE into a lineup with decent peripheral guys like Pillar, Travis, and Smoak and this lineup is going to look like a murderer's row for stretches this year against even the leagues' best arms. Maybe it's easier for me to see it when I don't really care how they do and am not feeling down after a rough series.

Toronto's lineup looks pretty dangerous to me. Completely wore down Tanaka in the opener, which they didn't get enough credit for because of the perceived decline in his stuff. The offense will not be a problem. The pitching staff likely will be.

 

If we dominate mediocre/bad pitchers, I'll be interested to see what they do against Boston, which is full of them (except for Porcello, but the jury's still out on him.) Comparing rotations, Tampa is the most dangerous. I mean, we were able to crush the O's and Yankees.. something in that Rays system really helps them develop great pitching.

In general,good pitching has a bit more of an advantage in April versus May and onward. Give it another week or two and the middle of the order bats will be much better. Donaldson is already starting to creep out of it.

I have played with/learned the game from World Series champions, current and former major league players and coaches, and few current minor leaguers. I have more knowledge of the game...playing and managing then you can imagine.
