He didn't give up an earned run in his final 12 games - a span of 14 innings. Now the 22-year-old right-hander will make his first major league start after earning a rotation spot because of Marcus Stroman's season-ending knee injury in spring training. Orioles: Ubaldo Jimenez will try to end the Orioles' first losing streak in 2015 in his season debut. The right-hander had a lackluster 2014 in the first of a four-year deal with Baltimore, going 6-9 with a 4.81 ERA in 22 starts and three relief appearances. Jimenez went 1-1 with a 3.27 ERA in his final two starts against Toronto last season, but also issued a total of nine walks. Bautista is 2 for 26 all-time against him for his worst showing versus any pitcher he's faced at least 25 times. o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 I really like that it didn't take 2-3 months to move Martin from the 2 spot. this is the most fluid Gibbons has been as manager. Cecil got one chance to save and then moved out. Martin got 3 games in the two spot and wasn't getting it done. lineups need to be fluid, go with what's working and tweak what's not.

Pompey has been hot recently and has that good speed at the top. I'm impressed on how quick he can pull a fastball, and in front of the GOAT 3-4-5 hitters all he'll be getting are fastballs
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 Smoak and Joey with some pretty bad numbers against Ubaldo Jimenez. hope they can change that today.

I really like Smoak at first and EE DH as well. Smoak is great defensively and EE needs to focus on his parrot.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 Almost like Joe Maddon, but less retarded not even close. we all know that Maddon put Longo in his spot and then drew the rest of the names out of hat.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 I could've sworn Pompey was hitless going into yesterday's game, but I'm often wrong. This isn't to say I think he was struggling as I think he was having good abs and walked twice against the Yanks.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 Rather just move up everyone with Bautista in the 2 spot. The more ABs for them the better.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 Going to set the over under on Aaron Sanchez swing and misses at 4.5. I'll take wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy over

Didn't martin have a few walks and a 2 run single? Not enough time to say he was not getting it done, sample size is a thing. Not enough time to make that judgement, nor is it enough time to know if Pompey is.

Candide Verified Member Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 how did Jimenez go from being so dominant to so horribly mediocre so quickly? I don't recall any serious injuries. excited about Sanchez's debut! I think he will surprise tonight
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 Martin has also done well against Jimenez. I think Pompey is hitting second to stay with the hot lineup.
WryNGinger Verified Member Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 That's the lineup I have been waiting for. There is NO ONE to pitch around and everyone can hit it out. That is some scary sh!t right there. I am excited to see what that lineup can do and how Sanchez is going to handle his first big league start. Hope the team puts up a few runs for him early so he can settle in. What song are the O's going to play for the Jays tonight? Hair of the Dog by Nazareth perhaps?
ScientificReason Verified Member Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 Sucks cannot watch the game tonight, hope sanchez has a strong start, keep the early momentum going.

Not enough time to make that judgement, nor is it enough time to know if Pompey is. Martin hit under .200 in ST and still hasn't gotten going. It's the right move. Martin has NOT been bad, it's about optimizing the team. it also gives Martin less to think about on the offensive side and lets him have more energy focus on catching.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 It's going to be a lot of fun seeing Martin catch Sanchez, assuming the latter doesn't completely lose the strike zone. Navarro could not handle his movement at all, losing many strikes in the process.

I'm pretty sure having JPA wave at pitches for a couple years ruined a couple of our young guys. for pitchers who have to live on the edge it's hard with a catcher who couldn't frame a center cut fastball.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 it still burns that the jays gave a win to the yankees. they suck something fierce and we really should be 4-0.

JaysAllMighty Old-Timey Member Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 Will the Orioles play that loser's song again tonight? Lets hope!
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 Go go gadget Sanchez I wonder how many times Martin will point at the ground tonight telling Sanchez to bounce the pitch.... that has to be great for pitcher confidence having a catcher that says bounce this s*** I got you covered.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 Pompey's Dad really loves to take credit for Dalton's hard work. have you seen how cut the dad is? dude has some hard core work ethic to get that chiseled.
