Tex is garbage. He strikes out twice as much as he walks. He isn't hot right now, he wasn't good in the spring, and he was atrocious last year. If you wanna put lefties in high leverage roles, don't treat them like LOOGYs. If Gibby really had the confidence in Loup and Cecil to put them out there (and he should have), he should have trusted them to get Tex out. That's literally my only quarrel with how the last three innings were managed.

Norris has got this tomorrow night while we light up old man CC.

Just win the series.

^^ Underrated post. Forget about today, we get to watch Norris tomorrow and we get to torch the s*** out of old man CC. I saw him pitch during ST and all he's doing is throwing garbage right now, we just got to win tomorrow and wrap up the series, we got Boston and the O's next up no slowing down

problem with that thinking is that the Yankees had to play in the exact same weather

You're right, but the Jays have been notoriously bad in cold/wet conditions in the past

One thing is clear...Castro and Osuna are doing great at thos point in the season..Loup not so much

Loup was terrible when he threw in Montreal and he was terrible today. Started off three of those batters with balls. I can't stand walks.

Righty lefty

We all knew Chris Young would PH for Gregorius, didn't we? As I said above, Ellsbury has hit Loup well in SSS, of course.

I would've let Castro start the inning. To each his own.

YEah I have never been a fan of loup, he is shaky, hits and walks guys way too often, that's a killer in close games.

Thanks MJ.

Loup should the 6/7th inning guy until he can be trusted again. Hynes/Castro/Osuna as the set up guys. Cecil couldn't get a grip on his breaking pitches considering its raining. He's off speed pitcher, kinda need to grip the ball

No, I know walking Tex leaves a higher percentage of turning 2. Pretty simple.

Gibby walked Tex not only to set up a DP, but to get the match up against McCann.

Clutch double lol. It was a blooper.

Sorry, I was watching the Sox lose to the Phillies, and missed that play. And based on that, the Jays got unlucky there.. of course, with the winds whipping tonight, a lot of balls were knocked down.

No guarantee the game happens tomorrow night.. Bronx, NY is expecting more rain.

Gibbons on Castro after game 1:

He’s a cool cat, he comes out there, you give him the ball, and he’s just staring at you with a little grin on his face. He’s a special guy. He’s got the arm, he can pitch, but he’s one of those guys with a slow heartbeat.

Then he brings him in tonight to face A-Rod and Drew yet didn't trust him to face Didi Gregorius.

On Osuna and Castro's roles:

Osuna, we’re not sure exactly how we’re going to break him in, we’ll let the game dictate that, I’m not afraid to use either one of them in the middle of the game or later. Osuna may be more of a multi-inning guy than Castro, we envision Castro being in a pretty important role.

What's up with Bautista? Getting his timing down I imagine. Is that 5 or 6 K's in 2 games?

Timing most likely. Plus, they've faced some tough pitchers early on, and that tough Yankees pen.

The excuse that Cecil blew it because of the cold weather is BS, the Yanks' pen didn't blow anything and they were pitching under the same circumstances

Yeah, but our pitchers are a bunch of pansies

Cecil didn't blow anything...Loup blew it. He came in with the bases loaded no one out, probably without much warm up. If anything he might have lost confidence in throwing his curve with how Martin was catching it.

Bottom line though, you cannot keep expecting guys to pull you out of the fire. 3 guys on 0 outs, a few runs are going to score a lot of the time. The BP minus Loup did just fine tonight.

What's so hard about understanding that? Some of the posters on here don't understand basic baseball fundamentals and they look stupid when making comments.
