Laika Community Moderator Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 Colt Hynes' spring: 10.2 IP 9 K 1 BB 3 H 0 ER It will be nice to have Hynes and Loup against LHB, freeing up Cecil completely from LOOGY duties and allowing him to go multiple innings more often.

Cecil, Hynes, Loup, Sanchez, Castro. That's five very reliable BP arms. Considering we know what we have in Stroman for next year, a trade for #3-4 SP could very well be upcoming to push Sanchez to the BP and replace Buehrle next year. Castro when/if he's ready takes Dickey's spot.

Hopefully it spills over into the season

A bigger sample size is his #'s in AAA, and they aren't pretty. 4.66 ERA, 1.48 WHIP, 6.5 K/9, 11.5 H/9 in 249.1 IP Hynes has looked great, but lets not get too far ahead of ourselves anointing him as a great bullpen piece. He's been pretty mediocre his entire career, didn't make it to the majors until age 28, and sucked massive dick in his one and only stint. Even still, my comment had more to do with Sanchez and Castro being in the pen. Chickie Hines can gtfo for all I care.

(9.00 ERA, 2.00 WHIP, 5.58 FIP in 17 IP) Of course SSS, but those AAA numbers are also sand-bagged by him starting 21 games and not being deployed as a LOOGY. His numbers in 2013 and 2014 in AAA are excellent. Guy has f***ing 58 K's and 2 BB in 47.1 innings in 2013!!! That's bananas. Then in 2014 his K/BB was nearly 5.00. So he's been an excellent MiLB RP in the last 2 years. There's a silver lining in the numbers.
