tmath Verified Member Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Who do you think will or should be the opening day 1st baseman?
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Smoak Barton Everyone else (looking at you Viciedo) can f*** right off. Also not Edwin
READERsince2006 Verified Member Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Who do you think will or should be the opening day 1st baseman? Give it to Smoak/Valencia for April, if Valencia doesn't work out we have Dayan V maybe Tolleson. If Smoak doesn't work out trade Navarro to free up money and get Howard from the Phillies if he is mashing righties and we only pay $5 million per this and next year. That assumes EE is also healthy playing well, I would acquire Howard in May(ish) if EE isn't healthy or playing well. He can play 1B okay and be a huge target for Reyes and Donaldson while probably mashing righties in-between Joey Bats and Donaldson
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Smoak. I like his upside and think we could get something out of him with Edwin as the typical DH.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Who do you think will or should be the opening day 1st baseman? As of right now. A combo of Smoak/Edwin. Opening day lineup will be. Reyes, Martin, Bautista, Edwin, Donaldson, Navarro/Smoak, Pillar, Travis, Pompey
glory Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Will: Edwin with Navarro at DH Should: Smoak/Valencia platoon
BTS Community Moderator Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Will: Edwin with Navarro at DH Should: Smoak/Valencia platoon Yeah. I'll be surprised if Navarro isn't DHing at least 3 times a week. Bleeding runs at 1B to get that 100 wRC+ bat in at DH!

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Everyone else (looking at you Viciedo) can f*** right off. I know it sucks that Kratz was traded for him but I don't really get the Valencia hate otherwise. Didn't Nox run a regression last year that determined that his platoon split was legit?
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Should trade for Ryan Howard. Phillies willing to eat $50M of his contract. Even last year with diminished skills he was 6th in RBI for 1B. He was a better run producer than batting champion Justin Morneau. More HR and RBI than Freddie Freeman who everybody seems to want to trade our best prospects for for some reason (never hit 25 HR, one 100 RBI season, no thanks).
tmath Verified Member Posted March 23, 2015 Author Posted March 23, 2015 So the 25 man roster should look something like this? Lineup 1. J.Reyes - SS 2. R.Martin - C 3. J.Bautista - RF 4. J.Donaldson - 3B 5. E.Encarnacion - DH 6. M.Saunders - LF 7. J.Smoak - 1B 8. D.Travis - 2B 9. D.Pompey - CF Bench 1. D.Navarro - C/DH 2. R.Goins - 2B/SS 3. D.Valencia 3B/1B 4. K.Pillar - OF Rotation 1. D.Huchison 2. R.A.Dickey 3. D.Norris 4. M.Buerhle 5. A.Sanchez Bullpen 1. B.Cecil - CL 2. A.Loup - SU 3. S.Delabar - SU 4. M.Castro - MR 5. C.Hynes - MR 6. T.Redmond - LR 7. M.Estrada - LR
tmath Verified Member Posted March 23, 2015 Author Posted March 23, 2015 Hendriks will have to be in there somewhere. Can't send him down. Who do you think he would replace or should replace?
TRM Verified Member Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Who do you think he would replace or should replace? Would: Hynes Should: Castro
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Why is Hendriks guaranteed a job? I'd just expose him. Estrada can be the mop-up guy, as well as Redmond (but he may be the 7th inning guy) Having a bullpen consisting of both Hendriks and Estrada will result in many blown leads...

tmath Verified Member Posted March 23, 2015 Author Posted March 23, 2015 They gonna expose Drabek : ( if they keep 3 catchers over him I will be pissed. Haven't really seem him this ST. How has he looked?
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 I think we should delay Castro for 9 days to save that extra year

Hendriks is phase 3 of the plan to increase the Blue Jays brand in Australia and establish a pipeline that pumps young cricket stars into professional baseball. Phase 1 - Jack Murphy Phase 2 - Treat them to athletic specimen Anthony Alford for a winter Phase 3 - big league Hendriks Blue Jays went all out for Balfour last offseason and they thought the Commonwealth allure would work in their favour but he chose Tampa Bay because he's scared of both snow and geese
BTS Community Moderator Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Anyone else remember Luke Prokopec?
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 I would be for that. But disagree on Freeman. Hes fantastic. Plus hes a closet Canadian and wants to play for our National team. http://www.strangemilitary.com/images/content/187741.gif

Hendricks is a valuable piece as part of our depth, and Drabek is the last grain of sand is left of the best pitcher that used a Blue Jays jersey. Estrada to Buffalo?
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
