S33n Verified Member Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 I think Maicer was getting the starting gig anyway, Goins/Kawa on the bench, Travis to AAA?
GoldBull Verified Member Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 Sucks for him, but likely has a negligible impact on ML team. Lose a bit of depth maybe.

Laika Community Moderator Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 Santiago was arguably the best backup SS in the fold.
closetjaysfan Verified Member Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 Too bad he was having a good spring.
gbill2004 Verified Member Posted March 15, 2015 Author Posted March 15, 2015 Broken collarbone is a 6-8 week recovery so not a major loss. He should still be able to contribute early in the season if needed.

True, he slipped my mind at the time of the post. I honestly have no idea who they will choose for the Utility IF. A part of me wants it to be Kawa because he's not a complete plug at the plate, but I know we will be giving up considerable defence if he's in there instead of Goins. Can Tolleson even play SS? Without looking it up I can't remember him ever playing an inning there in a Blue Jays uni. Edit: I just looked it up, I see he played 5 innings at SS last season. Is Tolleson' defence passable there if Reyes needs a day off? If not I don't see how he would be the utility infielder we need. Having Tolleson + Goins/Kawa on the bench doesn't seem optimal.

Seems it would be worse if it was his throwing arm too..
