jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 Miguel Castro continues to dominate: 2 IP, 1H, 2Ks. He's increasingly looking likely to make the team..
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 Jenkins in danger of going back on the Buffalo express again: 1 IP, 3H, 2ER, 1BB, 0K.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 I know JFaS is really high on Castro... does he actually have a legit shot to make the team? I haven't been paying attention at all.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 Another solid outing by Redmond, as Snider K'd and Rey Navarro got caught stealing. He's a lock for the pen.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 BTW, 5 DPs so far.. by Hardy, De Aza(twice) and Wieters.. does anyone think the O's lineup is really slow now? (of course, they were last in SBs last year.)
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 Eddie Gamboa stinks.. why did the O's give him a 40-man spot?

flafson Verified Member Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 Smoak walks! Nice, walk and an RBI in the same game!

McDude Verified Member Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 Am I the only one who thinks its a bad idea to entertain castro and osuna as legitimate bullpen options for the team this year? Why would you not want to give these guys ample time and innings to be developed and stretched out as starters going forward? I dont want to compromise the future for this short term outlook. Is there something I am missing but there seems to been an inclination of Castro being a pen guy, which i dont understand at all, he has three good pitches and an ideal frame (of course he needs to put on weight, which is understandable as hes so young!!).
glory Old-Timey Member Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 If Castro makes the team as a reliever, then AA should be fired. Prior to this he hasn't been acting like a lameduck GM, but one injury, and suddenly he doesn't give a s*** about the future.

I think AA just wants to empty the holster because in a desperate attempt to win now but there are a lot of potentially good relievers who should get consideration before converting very young starting prospects to relief. There's Wilton Lopez, Matt Mest, Preston Guilmet and Greg Infante to name a few. The later even throws as hard as Castro fwiw.

Governator Community Moderator Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 I love seeing flamethrowers, something Jays have lacked for many years.
SaskJaysFan_2 Verified Member Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 I am 99% sure now Castro makes the 'pen. In light of the Stroman injury. I would rather Sanchez start, and then Castro could take his spot in the 'pen. Not to close, although control and heat are his fortes. But maybe I mean, really, we're not even fringe contenders after Stro's injury. Let's have some fun with the young guys.

glory Old-Timey Member Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 If Castro is used as a long reliever and ends up with 100 IP out of the big league pen then I might be OK with it. Not ideal but at least better than relegating him to short relief at age 20. With 80 innings being his high he's probably got a 120 inning limit anyway.
