baubau Verified Member Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Smoak with weak grounder to 1b. He's been unimpressive so far. I agree and disagree. Smoak certainly has a pretty good eye/plate discipline as I've seen him stay patient at some at bats and take close pitches. He has also been solid at 1st defensively. The biggest gripe is his swing. If we could shorten that out or if he could find a way to magically increase his bat speed he'd likely be a above average hitter. Overall what he brings defensively which allows EE to be off the field might be enough to make the lineup.
