I don't believe AA for a second that Castro could make the team. No way he cuts a guy without options in order to bring a kid from A ball to the big leagues - that would just be so out of norm with how this team has operated.

If anything he's just pumping up his trade value because they don't love his mechanics or his chance to be a SP long term.

They are pumping his tires a bit but dude has huge potential with that body (projection left) and fastball. I don't see them rushing him though

That's not the main thing that makes somebody a starter over a reliever.

I meant in what way would Castro be Sanchez all over again. Did he mean the starter vs. reliever debate or some other similarity he saw. The Castro has thrown strikes statement was just meant to say they aren't similar in that regard.

Must be spring training. Never seen so many white guys bat for the Jays in a row.

they should do a split squad, Mexican/Caucasian.

Nah, Castro's going to start in the minors, get his innings to about 80, and then get called up to pitch out of the big league bullpen for his last 30 ip or so.

:P Nah, just fooling. Seriously though, I've never seen most of those guys bat.

I was hoping Delabar would have his velocity back now that he was back on the weighted ball program, sitting 94....hopefully its just because its early spring, but he wont be overly successful unless he gets back to 98 99 like his first year with the jays

He averaged 93 last year and 94 the two years prior. Pitch/fx lists his max velo at 97.8 in 2013.

Drabek extremely unimpressive. 89-92, can't throw strikes, spiked his first curveball into the ground.

Not happening. Bye Kyle.

his average FB velocity was 94 two years prior? or was that all his pitches? I swear watching him his first year he was throwing alot harder than 94

I think they do group the split-finger with his 4-seam, so I guess it is easy to say his fb was in the 95-97 range. He may never get back to that consistently but the stuff is still visible.

He looked pretty bad. I was hoping he could at least end up a decent BP piece... not looking like it.

So disappointing that the TJS has caused him to lose ~4 mph while moving from the rotation to the pen. Guy used to be 93-96 as a starter. I was hoping for mid-upper 90s as a reliever once he recovered.
