jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Didn't know this until now. Seems flukey. Interesting. Of course, having the short porch helps.
BTS Community Moderator Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Wow, Wieters is accepting the QO. Did not expect that.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 I can see why he is taking the QO. There probably just wasn't any interest in giving up a draft pick for a guy who wasn't very good last year. I think we all thought he would decline solely because Boras was his agent.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Wow, Wieters is accepting the QO. Did not expect that. Considering who is agent is and likely the best catcher on the market i am surprised he is taking it.
bendera3 Verified Member Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Wow, Wieters is accepting the QO. Did not expect that. 2 years shortened by injuries. Maybe he feels he'll be able to cash out on the QO and hopefully improve his stock for next year.

Who was going to give him a big contract though? I'm not signing a guy to a long term deal who is best known for throwing out baserunners coming off TJS. He isn't a good pitch framer either so his value just simply wasn't that high I would think. Kinda good he did though as it f***s over Baltimore
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Kennedy rejecting the QO.

Kinda good he did though as it f***s over Baltimore I don't think he will ever get a huge deal but i think he could of got a comfortable 3 year or so. His D is still pretty good and everyone knows what is in his bat.

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 I'd love to sign Anderson to a 3 year deal. Perfect fit for the ballpark.
Swervin81 Verified Member Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Wow, Wieters is accepting the QO. Did not expect that. Boras client, best catcher on the market... yeah, damn. As overrated as he is, I figured he'd still get paid. Of course, this leaves the O's in no mans land now. They're losing Chen and Davis and don't have anything in the pipeline.
Swervin81 Verified Member Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 I'd love to sign Anderson to a 3 year deal. Perfect fit for the ballpark. That's a pretty huge risk with how injuries love following him around.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 The O's are f***ed. Yep. This hurts any chance of bringing back Chen or Davis now having to add $15.8M to payroll. This'll take them well over a projected $100M+.. not exactly the smartest move by the O's front office, unless Wieters rebounds.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Would any teams trade for Weiters at this point? Pretty risky but Orioles woukd probably love to.

They can't until mid-season now, can they? I think accepting the QO works the same as if they signed as a FA, meaning they can't be traded for a few months.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Wow, Wieters is accepting the QO. Did not expect that. I am absolutely nailing my FAP picks.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Adam Jones also making 16M next year Ouch
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Wieters Accepts qualifying offer??
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Wieters Accepts qualifying offer?? Yes he did
BlueJayWay Verified Member Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Interesting. Of course, having the short porch helps. Well yeah, but it's the fact that so many of theirs this year were three run shots. It felt like they scored a lot more runs than they should've with that lineup, and this could point to why: they happened to hit a high % of their dingers with two on. Seems unsustainable.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Adam Jones also making 16M next year Ouch That's a pretty great deal for the Orioles.
bendera3 Verified Member Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Maybe DD is bitter about not being able to go after a promotion so he's hurting is owner in the checkbook.
BTS Community Moderator Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Brett Anderson accepts his QO.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Damn wanted Anderson here. Maybe the Dodgers would trade him just to free up the salary? I'd take him for 1 year 16 million.
