Was just about to ask this. Awesome pitching matchup, looking forward to that game.

The Yanks are probably the team that has stumbled the most coming into the playoffs, it should be very interesting to see how they respond to this single wildcard game. Last time Keuchel pitched in the Yankees Stadium, it was that 15-1 Houston rout, and I think he went 7 scoreless, so Houston also has that going for them. But of course you can never count the Yankees out at their own home.

Keuchel vs Tanaka

Mmmmmm. Nice.

I want Astros to win. Then Astros > Yankees.

But if its Yanks vs Royals then I don't want Royals to win. Fans are arrogant bunch. Plus, Cueto/Volquez/Skinny Ass gonna go head hunting.

Plus the whole home field thing. I think Houston will win the wild card game. Would love to have the opportunity to play the Yankees.

Man, two of my absolute favourites. Gonna have to root for Houston though.

Matt Williams fired

ESPN: "In addition to Williams, the Nationals also did not renew the contracts of bench coach Randy Knorr, pitching coach Steve McCarthy, hitting coach Rick Schu, third-base coach Bobby Henley, first-base coach Tony Tarasco, bullpen coach Matt LeCroy and advance scout Mark Weidemaier."

Things must be bad for him to not wait a few weeks (days?) for the team to be eliminated.

Sabathia going to rehab for Alcohol, will miss entire postseason

cc sabathia leaves yankees now to undergo treatment for alcohol. cc has statement expressing regret about timing.

Explains his late night altercations some. He had been pitching ok but maybe this was a situation where he wasn't going to be on the 25 anyway? I hope he gets the help he needs.

Yeah I don't think he was going to be on the roster. Still it's too bad if he can't be with his team during the postseason.

Bad taste maybe but whatever...

So he'll miss one game, that he wasn't going to pitch in anyway ;)

Are players still paid for the time they miss when they check themselves into rehab? In other words, if he had done it a few weeks ago, would he have taken a salary hit by doing so?

Holy s***, not the best timing?... Probably should have checked in when he got in to a fight at a Toronto club this summer wearing pink shoes.
