baubau Verified Member Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Yankees said to have claimed Robertson as they heard the Jays would try and put together a deal. Thank God! That would have been a terrible trade and would have cost at least Pompey.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Wouldn't bring back Dickey? Probably not Rather go for Iwakuma or Shark instead of Chen. And yes while he should cost less Boras will rather risk being fired than settle. Well yes but budget is a thing
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 I like Kuma as being a guy you could get for a reasonable price and would be solid..... Not an All Star by any means but i think a pitcher that can be consistent and be a nice compliment in the middle of the rotation

Pretty hard to believe this when we literally had to sell off Valencia and Doubront just to take on the remainder of Price's contract, and then followed that up by getting the Phillies to take the remainder of Revere's salary for the year.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 I highly doubt Iwakuma leaves Seattle.

AA wins without making a move... just the fear of the Ninja makes other teams make moves. lol
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 That would also be a hilariously bad use of money for the Yankees, who already have the best reliever tandem in baseball.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Robertson recalled from waivers, so yeah, no deal. Interesting that the Yankees were willing to take his entire salary, however, considering they could have just offered him that contract in the winter.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Gross, pls no. Buehrle I would definitely consider if he doesn't retire and is willing to come back. If MB and Dick don't come back next year that's 430+ innings that have to come from somewhere else. Some people here seem to think that it's easy to fill in those spots but they wont be. I'd love MB to stay for a 2 year deal if he is good with making another couple of runs at the WS. if He doesn't Dickey is really cheap for 215 innings of 4 ERA starting. I just don't like having to have his pet on the team. maybe the jays could sign someone else who can catch Dick and actually be useful with the stick
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 The Blue Jays didn't really need Robertson anyways. The money they would have to pay him would be a waste considering the pen is already stacked. I mean he would be an upgrade obviously but one where the cost isn't worth it IMO.

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Yes please. Bring in him and Chen and we're pretty much set. Zimmermann Stroman Chen Hutchison Osuna Sanchez etc Mentioned this before but Brett Anderson seems like a perfect fit in Toronto. With the turf Toronto should get as many GB guys as they can.

Small sample size. RA - option pick up? Hutch - SP Mark B - QO Estrada - QO? Sanchez - Still concerns about him as SP Osuna - Pen or SP? Price is gone most likely. There are a lot of variables. Who and how they target as FA may depend on the potential sneak preview we get with Stro 2015. If we can win this year, our chances to sign FAs improve with the offensive nucleus we have coming back in 2016.
BTS Community Moderator Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Kiermaier just stole a homerun from Machado.

Osuna needs to be sent to the rotation next year, if he's left in the bullpen IMO that's a terrible misuse of a good pitcher.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 That catch was ridiculous, Kiermaier is so good.

If I'm a betting man, I think it's Stroman Hutchison Dickey Osuna mid-tier free agent signing (Chen, Leake, Lackey, Kennedy, or Latos) I don't think you relegate Osuna and his 3-pitch to the pen permanently. I also think there's basically 0 chance of an Estrada QO.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Yeah AA doesn't have a history of giving guys like Estrada the QO

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 Castro pitching for the Rockies right now vs. Arizona. Just gave up a triple to his first batter. 4 runs overall in 1.1 IP. Looks like he's far from MLB ready. Great arm, but needs a lot of refinement.
