Blue Jays Home Run Contest 2015

Since there was great participation again last year I decided I'll host this contest for another year. For those who are new, this is a simple contest that runs throughout the season. The goal of the game is to pick one player on the Jays that you think will hit a home run during each game. You do not need to make a pick each game and you can join in whenever you want. The rules will stay similar this year but I have made a few small changes to the schedule (see below). The season will still be divided into two halves and the top 12 members from each half will enter a three round playoffs. Please post any questions you may have. Good luck everyone.. • Pick a player on the Jay's starting lineup that you think will hit a home run at ANY TIME during each game.
  
• You can only pick the same player 3 times during each week (Monday-Sunday)
  
• If you pick a correct player you will earn the corresponding points.
  
• You can only pick one player and you must have your pick in before the first Blue Jays at bat.
  
• If you are going away, you can PM Dylan your picks for the upcoming games (*Max 5 games)
  
• Streaks will win you bonus points (bonus points above). Streaks must be in consecutive games, if you miss a game your streak is over.
  
• Standings will be updated regularly and available on google docs (link will be posted above)
  
• *Player points will be doubled on Saturdays and a +1 bonus will be given on Sunday for the longest home run of the week.
  
• The season will be divided into two sets at June 3rd, 2015, and playoff information is posted below.

Season divided into 2 sets

First Half: April 6th-June 3rd. (55 games)

Second Half: June 5th - July 19th (39 games)

 

- Top 10 members from the first half, and 8 members from the second half clinch a spot in the playoffs

- The two top members with the most OVERALL points will receive a bye to the 2nd playoff round.

- Playoff ties go to the member with the most overall points during the season.

- It is important for those who make playoffs in the first half to increase overall points during the second half.

 

 

Playoff Rounds

Round 1: July 22nd-August 6th (14 games) (Top members from each half (16 members), not including the 2 byes)

Round 2: August 7th-August 23rd (14 games) (Top 12 members from round 1, +2 byes)

Round 3: August 25th-September 13th (19 games) (Top 10 members from round 2)

*Playoffs may be extended if jays are still playing competitive baseball

Some of the minor changes this year. (based on feedback last year)

 

- You can only pick the same player 3 times each week (mon-sun)

- Only the top 12 members from each half will make it

- The top 2 overall point winners will win a first round bye

- Every saturday will be a double points day

- Every Sunday a bonus will be rewarded to the longest home run during the week +1

- Playoffs will end 10 games before the Jays season ends to avoid the dull last 2 weeks. (Can change if jays are still playing important games)

 

- no more bonus point days because people found them confusing and kept forgetting (instead every saturday double points day and longest home run on sundays)

It usually adds a tiny bit more fun to watching games. Just sucks because people lose interest in august because jays are always out of it

i only played a couple times last year due to the world cup kinda ruining my jays hype but i'm definitely gonna play a lot more this year. i think the only points i got last year were from EE's walk off homer in the brewers series, it was so beautiful

If you did make the playoffs you could always send me your picks in advanced or something like that. Winning the bye makes things easier though.

The last month for both seasons was just awful. Hoping the jays are playing meaningful games in September... frig I hope they can play meaningful games in August lol. Right now I have the playoffs ending 10 games before the jays season ends but that can change if jays are still in it/making the playoffs
