He's on right now. So far a couple interesting points.

 

-Pretty much said if Norris looks good in camp he will be the #5 Starter and Sanchez in the pen

 

-Cecil will be closer unless they get someone else in trade/FA

 

-Have in the ballpark of 6 million left on the budget.

 

Edit: Wow said Castro has a chance to make the pen out of camp and they see him as a reliever.

I'm not in love with the ides of giving all of these youngsters spots out of spring training. It's looking and sounding like:

Man, I'd much prefer to bring in some pieces and start at least 4 of those guys in the minors out of the gate. As it stands, depth it going to be terrible and a lot of the pieces on the MLB team will have a high bust potential. Not a great combo.

Not sure if that really applies? He is already in a contract year playing for his MLB future. On top he know he'll be let go if he doesn't play well. Don't think that comment adds any more pressure at the position he is already in.

I actually really liked a lot of the roster related news coming from AA in this interview. Norris over Sanchez as a starter, Thole likely in the minors, Smoke/Valencia at 1B and Edwin at DH. All of that is pretty much music to my ears. Looks like Navarro is either gonna get dealt or used as the backup catcher and both of those scenarios just seem monumentally better than the previous notion, which was T-Hole up and Navarro dh'ing.

The bullpen pieces I'm not really worried about, they can be easily replaced, rotation to a lesser extent. It's Pompey and Travis that worry me more.

I'm concerned about the rotation. If Norris is there to start, you have Estrada as a possible useful guy and nothing after him you'd expect to be above replacement-level. At least Dickey and Buehrle are about as close you can find to locks for 200 innings.
