We'll take a vote once we have 20 players. Hopefully most people will be a little flexible and won't threaten to quit if the draft isn't to their exact specifications.

Voting seems the fair way to go. Are you thinking offline draft or live?

It isn't about not being flexible and quitting, it's that people can only dedicate their time to so many leagues and so must be selective. With LOD starting up, I'm in three serious leagues already (it, DDL and a home league) and probably only want to join one more.

A firm maybe. I trust most people on these boards but cash leagues (even small entry fees) can lead to ugliness, specifically with trades.

Honestly, AG should just set the rules now and people can either commit with a firm yes or just not join.

Yeah, I like it when someone has an idea for a league, institutes it, then tries to fill the league. That's how RAWRR and DDML happened last year and they were lots of fun, my two favourite redrafts from last year.

A drawn-out voting process will result in 7x7, H2H, snake draft, and 8 teams make the playoffs, since original set-ups proposed won't gain critical traction and what people are comfortable with will prevail.

I agree. It's AG league and he should set the format as he sees fit. I always prefer a commish who rules with an iron fist.

So, why are you a maybe?

So, why are you a maybe?

Because he's North and he has to consider things like hiring an imaginary assistant GM

It's very early in the fantasy cycle and I don't want to enter more leagues than I can handle. I'm keeping my options open.

Yet, putting your fingerprints on everything....gotcha!

If it's a league where the person who makes the most moves wins (ie. a lot of bench spots). I'd love to see a roto All players count with moves once a week. There is still strategy (pooching a stat, trading pitching for hitting or vice versa, also going for 2 start pitchers later in the season might work) and pickups still mean something but it's not about who you play. The negative is that teams are out of the pool much earlier in the season.

and for me auction makes no sense unless it's a keeper league. I'm all for a true roto keeper league as well but it has to be the right people or it's not going to work.

I guess the consensus is that I become a dictator. And being very pro-democratic, I have no choice but to oblige.

Welcome to the John McDonald H2H Auction.

- 20 people.

- $20 entry fee: The money is nice, but it's really about giving people incentive to take it seriously.

- H2H: I've never done Roto before, and while it sounds interesting, I think it would be harder to fill.

- Auction: I think we've all done enough H2H snake-drafts.

- Divisions are meaningless. Opponents equally distributed. Top eight teams advance to the playoffs.

- Prize payout is 45% to best regular season record, 45% to playoff winner, 5% to runner-up regular season, 5% to playoff runner-up.

- League will adhere to Sharia law.

I'm still debating whether to do it through Yahoo or through FanTrax.

I'd prefer Yahoo, but FanTrax offers the Treasurer feature, which is pretty useful for collecting fees.

If we don't use the Treasurer function, I'd insist everyone pay 'the Treasurer' before the draft starts, so the winner doesn't have to send out 20 e-mails and shame people into paying.

We can have a vote on who the Treasurer is. Ideally, it should be someone well known to the community who has met some of these people IRL, and lives in Toronto.

Roto is the best... H2H is for people who started their fantasy careers with football.

This is flying right over my head, mostly the football comment? I've been in plenty roto's initially, but found them not as fun as H2H, especially in this environment.(Board members)

I'm out.

Yeah, I'm out too. Not sure if I could commit to this with already being in the #LoD and BBDL. Sorry Greenwood.

Sounds good to me, I'll play.

You had me at Sharia law, but does that mean we have to execute Miguel Cabrera?

Ditto, I'm in four Board Dynasties and one yearly re-draft. An auction is too much homework for my liking.

OK, well at least we're locked in now.

The John McDonald 20$ 20-player H2H Auction.

1) Adam Greenwood

2) Spittin

3) Chappy

4) Boxy

5) CanadianSportsJunkie

6) P2F

7) GD (maybe)

Glad we've got the basic format down. Tough trying to keep everybody happy.
