burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2015 Author Posted January 20, 2015 Also apologies to the OP for having this thread seriously derailed. lol. haha no no its fine. Really the first post is all people need to see anyways. They can PM me if they are interested.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 As someone who's bought flex packs in years past if you sell your home opener tickets and another sold out game that's in high demand (ie. Canada's day) you can pretty much break even and its like going to the games for free if anyone is thinking of doing this. I would suggest field level bases you should be able to get a pretty good row and a good section as single seats have not been released yet. Also call one of their ticket sales reps you will get better seats then if you do it online through the website. From the 500 level tickets I sold...it was well beyond break even. Back when they allowed 6 for the opener I sold those under valued at $50 a piece, made $100 and got 14 extra tickets. I bought 3 20 packs of them in 2013 and sold 14 opener tickets for $60 each (although some on the board here got them for $20 cause I'm a really good person) and Canada Day tickets for $35 each. Almost paid for my drinks on the year.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 I'm thinking of getting one of these and selling off the home opener tickets as well. Honestly if you were going to do this...November was the time when only flex pack tickets were on sale. I bought my 500 level on December 17th this year and my tickets for the opener were already way back in 516R and row 12. If you buy in November and book your games first week it opens, you'll get premium tickets for the Opener. I wasn't going to buy with the increase this year but my parents still want those weekday games (downtown is too dangerous for them at night and on weekends...yes that is how my 75 year old mother thinks these days)

I'm still going to get the 20 pack since I plan on going to more games this year, even if I don't sell any off. Next year I'll buy it earlier and give this a try.

TheHurl Site Manager Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 great that your 75 year old mom/parents are still going down to the stadium for games. Yeah I can't seem to convince her to look at things from a SABR point of view and start cheering for the Rays. It's embarrassing that her favourite players are Kawasaki (who she calls Kamasaki), Janssen and Goins.

So even if you buy 3 flex packs you can only get 4 home openers. Even then though you can still almost pay for your entire flex pack by selling off the home openers.

Yeah I used three different addresses and CC's just because of the hype in 2013.

TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Rogers technician dude is over at the house, just got the internet setup and... well, hot damn. lol http://www.speedtest.net/result/4091672016.png

Chappy Community Moderator Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Just got the call from Rogers and I made the switch to the same package TwistedLogic got. Pretty sweet deal since they are throwing in 3 HD PVR boxes for me since I told them I was going to add another TV. The Internet alone makes this deal more than worth it, but I upgraded everything and it's still coming in a lot less than what I am paying with bell and that includes adding another home phone line for my office. Plus they throw in free installation (obviously) and a $200 account credit. Pretty excited about the Internet.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Doesn't Rogers throttle internet speeds though? And they also have issues during high bandwidth hours? From people I know who have it, it's still outperforms pretty much everything else, but I'm just going on what friends have told me. In either case, I know it is significantly better than what I'm getting with bell. The only reason I even went with bell was because they offered me an awesome deal, but that promotion ended and I'm ready to move on.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 So I just found out that the plan that Rogers offered us a few months ago doesn't actually exist, and now we're being hit with a $600 overage. I have no idea how this happened, but it isn't the first time this miscommunication ******** has happened.

GD Old-Timey Member Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Aren't there caps on overage fee's? $600 seems a bit much. Overage isn't the right word, it's the normal bill + a s*** ton of overage. So it's not quite $600. I won't stick a legit number on it, obviously, but yeah, we got dinged pretty badly. More concerned that we were told we'd been given a plan that didn't actually exist, operated under that for a while, noticed our bills go up, ask about it, not get a straight answer, and now have this ridiculousness. There has to be something that can be done. Ugh. f*** Rogers. I might be okay with this if they signed Shields or something.

If you escalate it high enough it would eventually reach the Ombudsman. I know the bank i work at you can request a written transcript from any phone call you make to us. I'm sure they would resolve the issue before you got to that point. 600ish is kinda ridiculous though so it may be worth the time. Also you may want to cut down on the amount of porn you download.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 This is why I always ask these crooks for email confirmation before agreeing to anything.

You're asking too much of me. No, but this is a mobile data thing, lol. Also turns out that the Facebook app takes up a s*** ton of data (which, with the plan I was promised, wouldn't have mattered), and I can't uninstall it cause it's stock, lol. I advise people check their app data usage regularly.

The phone call resulted in us being told that the plan doesn't actually exist. My mom is obviously the one who pays the bills because I'm like 12, and the bill has been steadily rising, and I've been pushing her to find out why and now we know. I just don't understand how an employee can offer a plan that doesn't exist, lol.

I would get your mom to call and ask for the extra fee's to be waived since you were told something and used the service as you were told. I'm not sure how Rogers works but i assume it's similar to my bank. Our process. You call and get a customer care professional. If they can't get resolve the issue and you ask for a supervisor it goes to our escalation gate which is just another rep but not an actual supervisor. If they still can't resolve your issue (unlikely) it goes to the Supervisor of the escalation gate and at that point we basically do anything to resolve the issue because after that it goes to our internal ombudsman that will review your case. Which looks bad on our company. It costs money every time you call Rogers. It's cost productive for them to resolve your issue. Tell your mom to be firm but polite and escalate it if she doesn't get a fair resolution.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 I just don't understand how an employee can offer a plan that doesn't exist, lol. Exactly what happened with me when I was first offered my Bell package, which is where my hatred for that f***ing garbage company was born. @Chappy, yeah the speeds are excellent. It is inconsistent and sometimes does drop a bit, but that's usually only been a problem with torrents. I've downloaded multiple games of 30 GB size or higher (Shadow of Mordor, Dragon Age Inquisition, Bioshock Infinite) and I've gotten amazing speeds. Was getting 22 megaBYTES a second (that's 176 Mbps, 26 Mbps higher than what I'm supposed to be getting) on Bioshock. After port-forwarding uTorrent on my router, I'm getting great speeds on most torrents as well.

When I sign up for personal utilities, unless I get a stupid good offer like in one of the earlier pages, I'm not going with Rogers, lol.

Rogers is a lot better then some of the other telecoms. Virgin mobile and Bell are the worst by far. I think since Rogers is so big the volume of complaints may be higher but Virgin Mobile for example is an awful company to deal with. Bell is just dumb. Ive never dealt with either company though.

This happened to me, just do what jaysforlife said, you'll get your money back and unlimited data, they're just trying to bumrush you guys, calls are recorded and it would be better if you knew the date and approx time. I was downloading video games on the console, they charged me an arm and leg.
