Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 He cleared waivers, so Red Sox control him in their minor league system They would have to acquire him through a trade now NVM...gotcha.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Red Sox Outright Jemile Weeks By Jeff Todd [December 8, 2014 at 2:47pm CST] The Red Sox have outrighted second baseman Jemile Weeks, the club announced. He has cleared waivers, allowing the Sox to open a 40-man spot while maintaining control of Weeks. Sean McAdam @Sean_McAdam 3m3 minutes ago INF Jemile Weeks has cleared waivers and been outrighted to Pawtucket. Leaves Red Sox 40-man roster at 39 players. #RedSoxTalk Yeah, re-read it.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Outrighted to the minors Not granted his outright release Crap. Confusing terms. I thought the same as you did Spanky when I first saw headline. So did Tao.

Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Plz acquire Reddick, he's young, good and he seems very pissed off at these moves.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Plz acquire Reddick, he's young, good and he seems very pissed off at these moves. 3 way with KC, Reddick to KC, Holland to Jays, prospects to Oak?
JaysRap Verified Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Wonder what the asking price is now for Reddick or Shark? Considering what Beane has gotten from the other trades

GD Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 3 way with KC, Reddick to KC, Holland to Jays, prospects to Oak? This would be pretty cool, but I think I'd rather just keep Reddick.

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Rays stadium stuff: I think a new location within the Tampa Bay area would be more desirable than a move to Montreal anyways. It's probably not a bad market if they can put themselves in a position where they can actually exploit it. Their current location cuts them off from most of the population base.

jerb Verified Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Gregor Chisholm Verified account @gregorMLB Nothing has changed in the Navarro trade talks. He's still available, but #BlueJays won't give him away without a fair return. Gregor Chisholm Verified account @gregorMLB Following up on last tweet, AA: "We're a better team with Dioner Navarro ... There's no doubt about it." #BlueJays Gregor Chisholm Verified account @gregorMLB When asked about how much interest there has been in Navarro, AA said: "I've had clubs ask, that's probably as far as I would go with it." Gregor Chisholm Verified account @gregorMLB If Navarro doesn't get traded, and that's still a very big if, there could potentially be at-bats at DH and also as a back-up C. #BlueJays

Is tampa even a good sports market? The lightning have done well recently but ticket prices are pretty cheap and they have one of the better teams and biggest stars in the NHL. The Bucs attendance has been awful for a while even around when they won the Superbowl.

Navarro would be a terrible fit at DH especially when they said they want to get EE off the turf and Smoak to play 1st base. I think at some point they will just take an offer to shed the salary.
ace3113 Verified Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 I don't get it from the Rangers side. Is the idea that they would start Navarro ahead of Chririnos? That seems like a just plain bad idea (although the rationale's of front offices don't always make sense to those of us on the outside). I'm not sure. I think it's Davidi who keeps mentioning the Rangers with regards to Navarro. Is Chirinos good defensively or at pitch framing. Don't know much about him, but he doesn't seem that good at a cursory glance.
ace3113 Verified Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 So we could've had Moss for Andy Burns? I'd gladly take Kazmir or Doolittle off their hands.
