intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Man, I'd love Lowrie for 2B and backup SS/3B. Come on, AA!

TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2014 Author Posted December 8, 2014 Updates Around the Game (1:30 PM EST) Baseball America had Joe Wendle on the back-end of the Indians top 30 prospects, lol Either Beane's kicked his 6th sense for diamonds-in-the-rough into overdrive, or we're witnessing him in the middle of an emotional breakdown spiralling off that unfortunate failure of an "all-in" season. TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2014 Author Posted December 8, 2014 And a tweet about Ichiro, for the sake of being spontaneous and unpredictable:
Westfan Verified Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 I really like all the updates but s*** I'm not getting any work done. I'll have to giver of the boss will be pissed. I need to turn this off for the afternoon.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 What other teams are in need of a starting catcher and could use Navarro? The Rangers have been mentioned. Wonder if they could be persuaded to part with Feliz. Claudio and Mendez are also interesting though unproven relievers. They also have Leonys Martin (for center?), and Luis Sardinas (more major league ready second baseman than Travis). We'd likely have to add a little, but filling a need and clearing Navarro's salary would be great. I don't get it from the Rangers side. Is the idea that they would start Navarro ahead of Chririnos? That seems like a just plain bad idea (although the rationale's of front offices don't always make sense to those of us on the outside).

AmericanRockStar Verified Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Welcome to the forum! I agree completely, Holland is a far better pitcher than Robertson is. The price it'd take to trade for him though does make me nervous. Thanks! I have been reading this forum for a couple of months so I decided that I should join. Medlen and Holland are who I'd wish we get. ichiro would be another guy I'd like. Yes he's 40 or so but he would bring the fans in and he'd get hits. When I lived in Seattle he was everywhere.

Welcome. We don't really need Ichiro since we got Saunders. Not that i would want him even he we hadn't. Medlen would be nice...Holland is too expensive in terms of what he would cost to get him here.
aselvana Verified Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 so red sox plan is a. lester b. hamels/shark could it be possible they get all three?
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 so red sox plan is a. lester b. hamels/shark could it be possible they get all three? They could spend all the monies and gut their farms, I suppose... Although, A's are basically giving away assets right now, I guess. Would definitely make for a formidable rotation next season, however.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Thanks for the updates TL. Much appreciated. Ditto TL, always appreciated.
xposbrad Verified Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 so red sox plan is a. lester b. hamels/shark could it be possible they get all three? That would most likely be about 60m in salary for all 3? I don't see how they could do that.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 So we could've had Moss for Andy Burns?
baseballsss Verified Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 That would most likely be about 60m in salary for all 3? I don't see how they could do that. You don't know how the red sox can spend 60 mil a year on 3 players? you must be new to baseball.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Red Sox Outright Jemile Weeks By Jeff Todd [December 8, 2014 at 2:47pm CST] The Red Sox have outrighted second baseman Jemile Weeks, the club announced. He has cleared waivers, allowing the Sox to open a 40-man spot while maintaining control of Weeks. Boston added Weeks as part of the deal that sent Kelly Johnson to the Orioles last August. He is a 27-year-old switch-hitter who saw only minimal MLB action last year. He has struggled at the big league level since a promising start to his career with the Athletics. But he posted a .280/.392/.391 slash over 257 Triple-A plate appearances last year, and he remains interesting as a high-OBP/low-strikeout option at second
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 So Red Sox want Lester, Hamels, and Shark. They have the money and farm system to get all 3. Yes, two would be more likely, they also have a plethora of MLB assets.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Does his defense suck? I'm shocked AA was not on him. Minor League deal ST invite wouldn't hurt.

HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Didn't even know Jemile left the A's to begin with.
Mikeleelop Verified Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Minor League deal ST invite wouldn't hurt. He cleared waivers, so Red Sox control him in their minor league system They would have to acquire him through a trade now
labadee Verified Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oBPzg45-89g that's a mean swing
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2014 Author Posted December 8, 2014 I'd definitely take a flier on Weeks. He's like the second base version of Justin Smoak.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 He cleared waivers, so Red Sox control him in their minor league system They would have to acquire him through a trade now I thought he was outrighted?
