Jose Bautista was among the select group players honoured by MLB with a Silver Slugger award on Thursday.

Coming off two straight seasons interrupted by injury, Bautista played 155 games in 2014 and by both traditional stats and advanced metrics was considered to be one of baseball's top offensive players this season. Bautista hit .286 (t-15th)/.403 (2nd)/.524(t-6th), scored 101 runs (3rd), had 103 RBI (t-7th) and smashed 35 home runs (t-5th). His wRC+ was 159 (t-4th) and his wOBA .402 (t-4th).

Bautista also won the award in 2010 and 2011 and joins George Bell and Carlos Delgado as the only Blue Jays to receive the award three times.

Here are the rest of the Silver Slugger winners from the American and National League:

Yan Gomes FML

and, time to sell high on Bautista

We can do that next offseason if needed and still get a huge return. No need to deal Bautista right now.

Can we put a filter on the words "Yan" and "Gomes" for this forum?

It's just too depressing.

ugh and we kept a catcher who is out of the league basically instead

Hey 43211234 and Candy Maldonado,

I'm pretty sure one or both of you entered the board's free agency prediction contest last year. Anyway, It's a fun thing to have going in the offseason to help pass the time, and it only takes a few minutes to enter. Just completed this Google form: http://goo.gl/forms/2zOQbDEPgy

Thanks!

So the best offensive shortstop in the American League wasn't even a league-average hitter. That's kind of sad lol

Should have been Reyes in all honesty, but AL shortstops are terrible hitters lol.

Guys can we all just pretend that Yan Gomes was traded for Jose Bautista instead of that jobber catcher and call it a wash? In the trade market you win some and you lose some. The problem is people only reflect on the losers and what could have been. What have the Pirates done since trading Bautista? Moved on and became a playoff contender.

Don't think I did it last year but I might get around to it this weekend.

This is disturbing mainly because he was around middle of the pack offensively for SS
