Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Don't understand the hate for Gose. He's a cheap, valuable player when used properly.

Mikeleelop Verified Member Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 No hate for Gose. Just realize he is limited. He is strong defensively. But offensively even with his speed he's below average contributor. He's a 4th of not a starter on a competitive team
BTS Community Moderator Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 Young to yanks at 2.5 mil. This is probably a good signing.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 Wow you really have a hate hard-on for Gose. Re-evaluate That, its way too much Gose is not even a viable bench player. he has speed to burn, but he makes Rajai Davis look like a rocket scientist. He was a prospect a couple years ago and now he's been around almost long enough to be called a bust. It's not a skill problem, it's all down to a lack of smarts and it's not getting better. He might not even make the team this year and he is out of options. He has zero trade value. Most teams have better options in their minor league systems, as do the jays.

Is this a serious reply or are you trolling for effect? Not a viable bench piece? My god
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 Is this a serious reply or are you trolling for effect? Not a viable bench piece? My god he's a horrible bat so you cant use him as a pinch hitter. he's a horrible bat so you dont want him getting 3-4 AB per game He's got a horrible success rate for stealing so he's a bad risk as a pinch runner where would you use him? He's not the 4th best OF defender the jays have. He's fast but falls asleep way too often.

GD Old-Timey Member Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 Correct. He's very possibly the best. Him and Pompey are really undisputably the top 2.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 This is probably a good signing. One year, 2.5 is peanuts for a useful player, even more so for a large pocket team like the Yankees.
LongTimeReader Verified Member Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 Didn't Gibbons say the exact thing about Ryan Goins? That sure worked out
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 how do you "properly" use a one dimensional player who falls asleep and gets picked off trying to do the one thing he is supposed to be good at? It looks like the Gose-lovers and Gose-haters are just going more and more extreme with their comments. One example of him getting picked off doesn't justify throwing away the entire player's skill set. The ability to be fast in CF is just one dimension of OF defense. Gose has an ability to track the ball, which Rajai doesn't. Rajai can use speed to make himself a passable (not great) defensive outfielder and overcome his weaknesses. Gose has the basics and can use his speed to become an elite defender.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 Didn't Gibbons say the exact thing about Ryan Goins? That sure worked out Pompey has shown he can hit AA/AAA pitching as a 21 year old. Goins has shown he can't really hit AA/AAA pitching at a 24-26 yo.
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 Yet I would still take goins in the field even with his bat for what we pay him! Then the the over payed oft hyped Reyes for what it's worth! 20 mill + better spent elsewhere for what they get or give Ya!
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 Pompey is a Stud!!!! Nuff said!!!! Goins bat will be average at best, Pompey can be Elite! Gose is like Sierra on speed, nothing to see here! Move along! Pompey has shown a better mental approach then Gose ever will. Attitude's are night and day, one thinks he belongs the other just belongs !

BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 i wish Don't Stop Believing! Lol I hold more hope for him figuring it out before Gose ever does! Just saying and his attitude doesn't Make me wanna Five Finger Death Punch him like the Rat Boy does everytime I see him! Lol

BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 "Gose is like Sierra on speed" what is this? Both are brain dead lacking in baseball IQ ! Gose just does it at higher speed! Lol
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 Pompey has a chance to be Devon white! Gose has a chance to Raji davis lite at best! And that might be a insult to Raji cause he can out hit Gose and may be smarter on the base paths too! Hmmmmm
GD Old-Timey Member Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 Remember when Gose got Devon White comps? Is every speedy black center fielder with a glove going to be "Devon White if he can put it all together?" See you soon DJ Davis and Anthony Alford
shortstop Verified Member Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 What about Aoki for LF next year. MLBTR predicting 2 year deal total of $16 mil I would do that in a heartbeat & stick him in the #2 slot (#1 when Reyes hurt/day off) & stick him in left. An OF of Aoki, Pompey & JB with Gose, Pillar & say Mayberry available. Also sign Martin, trade Navarro & AA is left with shoring up 2nd somehow.
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 Who gave Gose that kind of comp? Lol
