Caper Verified Member Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Do you guys think that Vlad Jr has one of those sleazy dominican agents? Or would his dad be taking care of business.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Do you guys think that Vlad Jr has one of those sleazy dominican agents? Or would his dad be taking care of business. His agent/trainer is his uncle, Wilton Guerrero. I'm sure the negotiations with the Guerreros was among the least sleazy of this international signing period. Nobody's trying to rip the kid off.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2015 Author Posted July 2, 2015 Deal is done Jays signed Vlad Guerrero Jr 4.1M http://m.mlb.com/news/article/134054452/blue-jays-sign-vladimir-guerrero-jr

GD Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 so the price tag keeps going up and now he's not signing it today?wtf lol
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 so the price tag keeps going up and now he's not signing it today?wtf lol People just don't realize that there are different definitions of 'sign' and 'official.' He has agreed to terms (although we knew that months ago). Soon, the paperwork will be completed.

Day one: Present Gregory Guerrero Day two: Present Vladimir Guerrero Jr

AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Could be that Vlad Jr (and his team) are having second thoughts after seeing the big money some of the other guys are getting.
metafour Verified Member Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Yes but the price keeps going up a few hundred thousand lol This deal was reported to being as high as ~$4.5 million at one point. Anything up to that number shouldn't be a surprise at all.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 $4.1M, glad it's official It's not official though, that's what we've been talking about lol
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 It's not official though, that's what we've been talking about lol I saw several sources saying it is official and it's for $4.1M. [h=1]¯\_(ツ)_/¯[/h]
flafson Verified Member Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 So, does it mean we are not able to sign anyone for over 300k for the next 2 seasons? Sounds like we had max pool for about 2.25M and Vlad is getting over 4M. Would be very foolish if we are getting the max penalty and only sign him, we should go all out.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 They can trade for cap space, if they do they should still have like ~$100k to spend.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Expected 2020? Or earlier There's some talk he could be good enough to make the majors at 18yo. Realistically 3 - 4 yrs minimum though.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 I used last years numbers, my bad. Going over ~700k.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Still not confirmed. If I were an ******* agent I'd ask for even more money this late. I mean, look at how far he's gone. $2million, to 2.4, to 2.5, to 3, to 3.5, now to 4.1
43211234 Verified Member Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Eww if they go over and just sign Vladdy.
baubau Verified Member Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Is it just me, or does Vladdy's swing look a little like EE's: ?
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Will you still be saying this if he becomes a very good player? Well obviously it works out fine if he becomes a very good player but it seems like poor strategy to put two years worth of potential IFA signings in one basket.

Caper Verified Member Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 No. One is fine. Got the best bat in the draft.
