TheHurl Site Manager Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 It's been 5 years since I first saw Rendon at Rice as a freshman...and I still pound one out every time I see him. This is my second longest relationship ever.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 Peavy looks good. Hes been a huge pick up for them. AA still wants
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 Did he meet his player option requirements??? *$15,000,000 $15M Player Option player option for 2015 if he 1) has 400 IP in 2013-14, including 190 IP in 2014, and 2) is not on the disabled list at the end of the 2014 season Edit: No he didn't. Not enough IP in 2013. So he's a free agent and can't be qualified. Good target for several teams.
goeb Verified Member Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 Is there any insight into how the Giants managed to make the playoffs this year (outside of the basic robust pitching retort)? Thanks
TheHurl Site Manager Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 Day games on a Friday is stupid Friday's are my weekend...so you're stupid.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 Holy s*** Peavy is f***ing pumped up
TheHurl Site Manager Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 I really hope this is true. After the game, Zimmermann told reporters that he'd get Souza anything he wanted. Souza, apparently joking, said he'd be awaiting a "Beemer," before getting serious and remarking he didn't require a gift and that he was simply happy to have made the catch. But Friday, this story emerged, via Adam Kilgore of the Washington Post: Friday, Zimmermann was asked if he had delivered on his vow to buy Souza a gift. “I have,” Zimmermann said. “You'll have to ask him what it is.” So, we did. As Souza came off the field from shagging fly balls during batting practice, the question was posed to him: What did Zimmermann buy him? “A BMW,” Souza replied. Seriously? “Yeah.” No, really? “It's getting shipped this winter,” Souza said. What kind? “I'm not sure,” Souza said, shrugging as he walked down the dugout and into the clubhouse. We still aren't 100 percent sure Souza wasn't messing around with a reporter.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 WOW. f***ing moonshot by Harper
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 People who think Bryce Harper is all hype make me laugh
goeb Verified Member Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 Every single one of their starting position players had a 100+ wRC+. (Above average) Posey 144 Belt 116 Panik 107 Crawford 102 Sandoval 111 Pence 123 Blanco 107 Pagan 112 Morse 133 Bumgarner also put up 1.2 WAR with just his bat. I have to be honest, I never would have believed that stat unless I saw it with my own eyes. Giants seem to get the best out of the bottom of their lineup as they are adept at getting on base. Should be interesting how they perform without Pagan and possibly Morse in this series.
LongTimeReader Verified Member Posted October 3, 2014 Author Posted October 3, 2014 f***ing bomb holy s***. Where did it land?
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 you can just see the new t-shirts in San Fran tomorrow KEEP CALM __we have__ _Panic_
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 Put a small parlay bet on the Giants and Dodgers tonight. Let's go Giants!
GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 Hoping the Nats pull this Series out.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 Hoping the Nats pull this Series out. So far most of the cities we were looking at might not be in it for the CS or WS.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 I hope Giants sweep. Hate Nationals and always will I prefer the Giants as well, have always been a fan. Though I wanted to watch a postseason game somewhere this October and it looks like teams like Detroit and Washington are on the outs.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 I hope Giants sweep. Hate Nationals and always will How come? Is it because they replaced the Expos?
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 Yea that sucks. I've always kind of liked the Giants as well. I really think they will win the NL. They don't look like it on paper but this knows how to get it done. Dodgers and Nats with a quick exit doesn't shock me at all. If the Giants win today, series is over with Bumgarner pitching Game 3. Madison Bumgarner is f***ing amazing!
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 Yea outside of Kershaw best lefty in Baseball. I would like to see some vintage Tim Hudson tonight to make that possible. Agreed. Bumgarner doesn't get any love compared to other elite pitchers in the league.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 Yea I would say thats the main reason. http://www.mycollectionofcards.com.php5-20.dfw1-2.websitetestlink.com/baseballcards/031014/20140310_004614.jpg Is this a real card actually?
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 No just a pretty good photoshop job. Tons of pictures of Harper in a Montreal jersey on the internet. I know there's a card show in November at the International Centre and if they had cards of Harper, Strasburg in Expos uniforms I'd definitely pick up some haha.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Oh boy, Matt Williams is going to get grilled for yanking Zimmermann... Sandoval just hit a 1 or 2 run double (pending replay)
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Matt Williams is almost as bad as Ausmus with his pitchers.. Storen blows a save, and now we have a brand new ballgame!
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Better slide and he's safe. Looks like the right call to me although it's more a case of inconclusive evidence to overturn the call.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 You just knew Matt Williams was looking for an excuse to yank Zimmerman. Gotta love these managers.
