bill Verified Member Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Jays should absolutely hire Ron Gardenhire. A proven manager with winning track record.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Only after we sign a proven clozer.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Jays should absolutely hire Ron Gardenhire. A proven manager with winning track record. Career 1068-1039 W-L Gibbons 462-472 W-L Tiny difference even if you think a manager's WL record has much to do with his managing and not the caliber of the team that hired him
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Only after we sign a proven clozer. And a glue guy
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 You're going to get blasted of course But if we were in fact in the need of a manager I'd be happy with hiring him. Has a great reputation even though he couldn't have been more under the radar over the past 10+ years.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 And a glue guy Real clubhouse guy who helps the team jel, high quality leader, key part of this team moving forward
bill Verified Member Posted September 30, 2014 Author Posted September 30, 2014 He would be a big upgrade over Gibbons.

jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 We should also bring back Mark DeRosa

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 We should also bring back Mark DeRosa Glue guy extraordinaire
GD Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 we need te trade batista he is teh canacer and cant win with him hire David Eckjewstein as teh gm1!!1!!!
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Jays should absolutely hire Ron Gardenhire. A proven manager with winning track record. No, no and no. Gardy's led the Twins to 4 straight 90 loss seasons.. of course, having a lack of talent on the roster hurts too.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Career 1068-1039 W-L Gibbons 462-472 W-L Tiny difference even if you think a manager's WL record has much to do with his managing and not the caliber of the team that hired him Gibbons hasn't been THAT bad.. most of those losses came in the god-awful 2004 and 2013 seasons, on Jays teams plagued by injuries. Otherwise, he's helped in keeping the team at or above .500 when healthy. He just needs the team to stay healthy. As for Gardy, he failed miserably in getting any playoff series wins for Minnesota, losing every playoff series (usually vs. the Yankees) except one (2002, which the Angels beat them in the ALCS). I mean, the writing was on the wall for Gardy.. he was really struggling to manage a young and/or talentless Twins team.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Glue guy extraordinaire Mark DeRosa is retired and I believe is on MLB Network now.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 My personal projection if Gardy was the Jays 2014 manager. 83-79.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 the manager is NOT one of the big problems facing the jays this off season. the biggest problems are a little higher up the food chain. one has really ugly hair and smokes cigars and the other smokes giros like nobodies business.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 5 90+ wins seasons
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 5 90+ wins seasons how many 90 win season in the last 3 years? He is clearly not a good manager anymore.
bill Verified Member Posted September 30, 2014 Author Posted September 30, 2014 I would hire Gardenhire but keep Gibbons around as a water boy
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 I would hire Gardenhire but keep Gibbons around as a water boy well Gibbons was a very good framer If Kratz is worth $75 Million, Gibby is worth at least $25 Million
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 I would hire Gardenhire but keep Gibbons around as a water boy No Way. We need a high value, high morale water boy. I'm thinking King.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 John Gibbons is the best catcher on our team. ftfy
kgm1 Verified Member Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 When I heard they fired him this morning I just knew a thread like this was coming. The ugly thing is a lot of casual fans would agree.
Slot Machine Verified Member Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 hire David Eckjewstein as teh gm1!!1!!! Yeah...... might as well.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 You're going to get blasted of course But if we were in fact in the need of a manager I'd be happy with hiring him. Has a great reputation even though he couldn't have been more under the radar over the past 10+ years. Ron Gardenhire is a terrible choice. Game has passed him by and he'd ruin our pitching staff with that pitch to contact ******** that he and Rick Anderson love so much. It was only a matter of time until he was fired since he's an idiot and Terry Ryan isn't.
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 how many 90 win season in the last 3 years? He is clearly not a good manager anymore. He has peaked. He was in his prime a few years ago but now his skills have declined. It happened with Cito Gaston too. Like Cito, if Gardenhire is hired by us he will be rejuvinated and will win 90. In Gaston's first year of his second term we won a lot (between late June and May) but then the mutiny happened and ruined it. But the mutiny was independent of Cito's managing skills... it was just one of those things. Not really his fault that the players went bezerk. Just make sure it doesn't happen with Gardenhire and he will win 95.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Jays should absolutely hire Ron Gardenhire. A proven manager with winning track record. He's German, wouldn't be good give him a team full of Latinos. Ron don't played Big Papi because he was black; he preferred to play the superstar Doug Mientkiewicz instead.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Does it not dawn on people that people get fired for reasons? Yes, sometimes they do Sometimes they get fired because their team just isn't any good but the fans/FO want a change or wants to make it look like they're doing something I will concede I don't know enough about the Twins to know which is the case here
