I don't know about an extension atm, but Happ has a 3.71 xFIP in the second half and 4.01 on the year. That's pretty sweet for a 5th starter.

I think his point is that he isn't a POS, and I would agree that if we didn't have better options he would be an acceptable 5th starter, which is why the extension sounds funny. I liked the way they want about it too, saying that he's likely to get better in his late thirties, and it's always a foolproof plan to throw Sandy Koufax into a conversation about JA Happ.
