I think when the pitcher is forced to cover first base like that play, most players hustle more than reyes did there because there is a decent chance the pitcher could mess it up. It is different that if it was a routine ground out with just the fielders involved. Which makes Reyes lack of hustle all the more puzzling

Exactly my thought as well. If a ball goes to the SS or 2b jog as much as you want but Iv seen so many times the 1B to P exchange go wrong.
