gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 Good Lord. Can this season just go away.
comeon sense Verified Member Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 This defence.... is a joke, and the only reason why we aren,t in the WC race.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 Listen. I get it. Navarro was last as f*** on that play. But even had he been an athletic catcher with hustle, it almost certainly would have bounded off of him. Probably would have kicked off him sliding over and created even more trouble. It doesn't excuse the effort, but his lack of effort also doesn't excuse the WP. People are angry with Navarro because he is a terrible catcher and the offence that he was signed for has not showed up. If he was putting up a 110wRC+ I think people would be more forgiving with Navarro's defence. But he has been pretty bad this season so he deserves a lot of criticism.
comeon sense Verified Member Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 nice Pillar, way to defend!

We'll never know because the fat pos wasn't physically able to apply basic catcher fundamentals. Last i've heard it was ok for pitchers to occasionally bounce a ball in the dirt.

Navarro has been lazy like this his whole career. This isn't new, hell Tampa and LA will tell the same story. Yea he got in shape and did ok for the Cubs in a back up role last year but soon as he got the two year deal right back to out of shape and Lazy.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 Play Goins at 3rd and DH Lind for him, letting the pitcher hit. Best possible lineup. s***, you're extra sharp tonight. BTW, it would be Kawasaki at third.
leaffie Verified Member Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 Has anyone heard anything about Lawrie?
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 Anyone thinking he was going to provide much more offense than this was silly. And much of the "framing" issue is on the pitchers. You can't seriously believe that about framing can you? Why was Kratz so much better then? Just by watching you can tell Navarro struggles with framing.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 Watch Gibby pinch run EE. "He was the tying run in scoring position"
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 Has anyone heard anything about Lawrie? Last I checked he was still tweeting about Wiz Khalifa
kgm1 Verified Member Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 OK Guys , lets get the Kid some runs to make up for the s***** defense. Stroman deserves better.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 No. That's completely unrealistic. It was a sharp late break away. Superman wouldn't have gotten in front of it. The best outcome could have been trying to scoot over while also backhanding and getting a lucky bounce into the glove, or a good angles bounce off the body and close to the plate. But that's best possible. Realistic is it's still missed as he shifts over, or it kicks off the side of him and toward the dugout. Umm it was a 2 seam fastball that broke in towards Navarro...

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 I'm not speaking about framing generally here. Just what I'm seeing with Navarro. I didn't see every pitch, but of the ones I saw that were cried about, there were two legitimate whines. And one was Stroman missing his spot, and the other was a fine reception, but the ump blew it. There has been more than that. Also good framers are good because they can take a pitch that didn't hit their spot and still get the strike call, would you not agree?
