This team qualifies for the star of any circus.

Amazing STUPID bunch that have no clue. Time to blow it up off season. Can't watch those same clowns next year.

Posted
I hope they don't try and contend with this core next year

We don't really have a choice but to do so. See how it goes and blow it up next year if we do the same.

Not a great option, but the best we have available to us.

If we finish below .500 this year, I actually think it IS the best option to blow it up. We could still get huge hauls for Bautista and Edwin, among others, and we already have the young pitching. If we have a big September and make the playoffs (or finish just outside), then maybe you plug some holes and give it one more shot.

there's more than enough blame to go around for this game, you could write a list

no! Blame always begins and ends with Rogers

so many holes that won't be addressed in the off season

- 2B

- resigning melky will be difficult

- signing a front of the line starter

this isn't even considering the fact that our catcher blows and our pen is losing janssen, santos and mcgowan

I can't wait for him to be gifted a promotion to president. The Blue Jay Way.

I think a lot of assets are going to be put into the pen. As things stand, they have Cecil, Loup, and possibly Sanchez for next year. IMO they'll be trading for/signing at least 3 guys, and it will be wasteful.

Shall I bring you usual rack of lamb sir!

Yes, and Tinnish can you get that report on pitch framing for me, I need to protect my new desk from the Tzatziki sauces.

Hahaha

Gibby " I need to discuss the rotation with you"

AA "sure john we will discuss that but I'm in the middle of something right now. Mets are willing to trade us Colon and all they want is Stroman in return. We are also signing him to a 5 year extension"

Cecil, Loup, Redmond, Drabek, McGowan (4M really isn't terrible), Delabar (assuming he gets the kinks worked out), Jenkins. Should be lots of other cheaper options on the FA market to fill it out. We'll have to wait and see what actually happens though.

It's sad how the media don't point out that the Jays claimed they were gonna focus more on defense this year yet they've picked up nothing but defensive butchers.

Anyway, seemed like 2 mediocre teams trying to gift the game away to the other team, one team was just a little unluckier than the other.

The only way we re-sign Melky is if he wants to play here, and the numbers are market. He is going to get huge offers, and you just know the Yankees will be involved.

No way I'd pay McGowan $4 million, but I'd be content with trying a bunch of Drabek/Delabar types next year on the cheap. I just think the FO is going to see the pen as an area of need, given how few established guys they have going into next year, and the fact that the pen has been awful this year. AA has always shown a desire to add established guys, and I think that will lead to multiple acquisitions this offseason.

Stupidest team in baseball from ownership on down. This franchise still exists solely to torture the fans.

They torture us with "SportNest" commercials."The Insiders"-LOL.Who cares.

They torture us with most of all.... ROGERS bundling, bungling contracts.

Right now me or any family member cannot cancel the Entertainment magazine, because there is no way they know how to at rogers customer care,so we have to take it,and had to convince them to not charge us the extra $4.95/month.

We dont even read the P.O.S. magazine.

Sorry if this is considered off topic.......

The media should be bashing these guys to pieces, but its all ok because hockey is all that really matters.

I wonder what the Phillies were asking for for Papelbon? If we could send them Romero + something decent but not too painful, the salary difference would only be about 5M for us next year (which is basically Janssen). The option the following year might suck a little, but we can worry about that then.

Even $5 million is too much IMO.

There a a few free agents hurt/having down years that could go for very cheap: Johnson, Crain, Hochevar, Belisle etc... I really hope that the add guys like that if they're signing FA's.

Lots of landmines out there though: Grilli, Janssen, Romo, Soriano, Gergerson, Robertson, K-Rod, Uehara, Miller etc... All of those guys ill likely earn $5 M+

5M (the difference) isn't too much for Papelbon. I love the idea of Johnson or Crain. I don't even mind Grilli or Romo at 5M, but I wouldn't want to go much higher. I don't like the idea of Belisle, but Hochevar could be interesting. A flier on Fujikawa or Soria might be interesting if the options aren't picked up.

After more injury, I wonder if Brett Anderson would move to the pen?

Fujikawa could be awesome if he signs a cheap deal.

It's just difficult for me to see how even $5 million makes sense on a payroll of, say, $145 million. There are just so many other holes: LF, CF, C, 2B, DH, SP, bench etc... I really think they have to be looking at guys who make <$2 million until all of the other holes are filled.

That said, I'm expecting runs at Grilli and Uehara, both of whom have been targetted in the past.

Uehara doesn't want to come here.

I wonder how much guys like Hochevar, Gregerson, Los Del V, Gorzelanny, Cotts, and Duke will cost.

I think you have to take upgrades where you can (they all help) if they are coming at surplus value.

I'm not worried about CF next year. Gose / Pillar (Pillar is raking right now) can platoon there until Pompey is ready, and then they can go with some combo. Either way it fixes the 4th outfield spot too. LF is a big worry, and I like everyone else except apparently the front office, would like to see an upgrade at catcher. Navarro would be perfect as the backup catcher. DH is fine, and honestly I think SP is also fine. 2B is more interesting. Assuming Izzy bounces back we may be okay there. An upgrade would be nice, and I can't believe I'm actually saying this, but I'm not sure it's the most critical hole.

I really disagree with your assessment with where the team is. You go into the season with the status quo rotation, a Pillar/Gose CF platoon, and Tolleson/Kawasaki at 2B you're probably looking at another sub-85 win "contention" season.

Wins need to be added. Real wins. scratching and clawing to get 1-2 wins out of multiple positions isn't going to cut it.
