Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 what a slide by rasmus, damn
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 It would be BS if they took this game away from the Jays. They got the call wrong to begin with and only the replay could save their behinds from another blown call. Anyway...
BlueJayWay Verified Member Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Rasmus is a good baserunner, I loved the way he slid hard into home. Rasmus is a phenomenal baserunner.
comeon sense Verified Member Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Yay we won for now. Unbelievable, now we have to wait to see about the protest..."are you kidding me"

I dont see how they can take a win away from us.This is too important, but it wouldn,t surprise me if it happened.
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 It sounds like it was clearly a violation of the rules. Any guesses?
thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Lol Rasmus swearing on live TV.
comeon sense Verified Member Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 LOLOL Colby pie face Rasmus.. "Get that s***(bunt) down" ..Colby.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2014 Author Posted August 23, 2014 Rasmus seems to love it here, below market extension plz.
thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 This win might not mean anything anyways, Rays have a case.
comeon sense Verified Member Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 It sounds like it was clearly a violation of the rules. Any guesses? They give us the win,but we have to replay the game on our mutual off days(TB,TOR),on Sep11th. (HOPE) We win because its a new rule ,first year of challenge, and cannot expect the players etc to know all the rules etc..
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Maddon, yet again, pulls a pitcher for a pitcher who subsequently allows a score. Stupid Maddon. Guy can't handle a bullpen worth a damn. Zaun has a point. Why are they not at least pitching around Reyes there? Bad call by Maddon.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 It sounds like it was clearly a violation of the rules. Any guesses? Isn't calling a guy safe when he was out another violation of the rules?
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 No chance the Rays win the protest, because MLB will not throw the umpires under the bus for making that judgement error regarding review.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 This win might not mean anything anyways, Rays have a case. It would be a shitshow if MLB reverses the result or forces a replay. Won't happen
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2014 Author Posted August 23, 2014 Zaun has a point. Why are they not at least pitching around Reyes there? Bad call by Maddon. Because Melky, Bautista and Encarnacion are next?
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 No chance the Rays win the protest, because MLB will not throw the umpires under the bus for making that judgement error regarding review. And now we know the Rays WILL win the protest....
comeon sense Verified Member Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Wilner will have the answer.... he knows everything. I bet he will say we may lose the protest, and the game will not count, but just educated guessing. We win! Umpires f***ed it up. They should have known to moot the challenge after Buerhle stepped on the rubber. Umpires blew the call!
BTS Community Moderator Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Zaun has a point. Why are they not at least pitching around Reyes there? Bad call by Maddon. Huh? Melky was on deck...
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2014 Author Posted August 23, 2014 So I replayed Rasmus' interview, and it's awesome how he said "I just tried to get that s*** down" right after the pie to the face.
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Because Melky, Bautista and Encarnacion are next? You set up the force out. If you pitch around him Reyes could easily get himself out. Not even debatable IMO.
BlueJayWay Verified Member Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Wilner just read a thing on air. It sounds like final decision is with crew chief.
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Huh? Melky was on deck... Reyes has struggled vs. lefties but he probably expands the zone if you throw him something borderline. Challenging him with a fastball first pitch was stupid. Not pitching around him was stupid too IMO but to each his own.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2014 Author Posted August 23, 2014 You set up the force out. If you pitch around him Reyes could easily get himself out. Not even debatable IMO. Reyes is one of the fastest runners in the MLB, and Rasmus is a smart baserunner as well. You're walking an inferior hitter that also happens to be fast to get to the far superior hitters, it wouldn't make any sense. Maddon knew what he was doing.

If by "umpires blew the call" you mean that Myers was out to begin with, then you're totally right.

I'm not getting in to arguing about pitch selection, but I very strongly disagree with walking Reyes to face Melky. Reyes was without question the weakest hitter due up for the remainder of the inning.
comeon sense Verified Member Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 If by "umpires blew the call" you mean that Myers was out to begin with, then you're totally right. They blew it twice....once on the out call ,and the other thing. HAHA LOLOL .... umpires-being made stupider by Selig, and the MLB.
43211234 Verified Member Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Can someone fill me in on the protest situation? I missed the game.
Vincent Verified Member Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Another fun game, another circus, but a win is a win.... unless it's not a win.
