Here's a picture of Maddon and all Rays' season ticket holders in front of Selig's house protesting this game.

The last successful protest was over 25 years ago and was for a way more valid reason then this game lol

This one is pretty valid actually. The Pinetar protest and the rain delay protest are the two that have been upheld in the past 30 years. The Pinetar just reserved the win.

Except as otherwise set forth in Sections II.D.2-4 below, to be timely, a Manager must exercise his challenge (by verbal communication to the appropriate Umpire), or the Crew Chief must initiate Replay Review (if applicable pursuant to Section II.C above) before the commencement of the next play or pitch. Such challenge or request will be considered timely only if the Umpire acknowledges that communication within the time period specified above. For purposes of these Regulations, the next "play" shall commence when the pitcher is on the rubber preparing to start his delivery and the batter has entered the batter's box (unless the defensive team initiates an appeal play in which case any call made during the play prior to the appeal still may be subject to Replay Review). A challenge to a play that ends the game must be invoked immediately upon the conclusion of the play, and both Clubs shall remain in their dugouts until the Replay Official issues his decision. No substitutions or pitching changes may take place while the Umpires are in the process of invoking Replay Review.

I wonder what they consider to be "preparing to start his delivery"? Do they mean when he's simply on the rubber, when he's looking in for a sign, when he's got a sign, when he comes set, etc? Buehrle was on the rubber looking in for a sign, but he hadn't got one yet.

This is what I was wondering also. My question would be if the rule expects the pitcher to be in his set position, which Buehrle wasn't.

There's a stark difference between causing a team an out and making them lose the game on the spot (rain delay protest). Not to mention the fact that the dude was actually out on replay. If MLB truly wants to get things "right", reversing any outcomes of this game would be a farce

SF just won a protest over the Cubs this week because the Cubs ground crew failed to put the tarp on fast enough during a 4hr rain delay, that resulted in the game being called.SF protested that call, and won,and played the next day,and i think they lost the game .

Really? My bad then, I guess I didn't hear about it because I haven't been watching as attentively since the Jays started sucking hard. But once again, that is for a much more valid reason than losing 1 out. (especially when the guy was clearly out on the replay).

Dont worry,TB will not win this protest because the guy was out.

If they do then we really are toast because MLB don`t want us anywhere near the playoffs-LOL

i don't think this game will be replayed if we win. i mean, in the end the right call was made.

But the wrong call was made to make the right call. Two wrongs don't make a right...but the Rays are making this right on their own. 16 games erased tomorrow?
