Back to throwing some breaking balls too.

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Jonah Birenbaum Anthopoulos on Janssen: "We had some conversations, but I don't think it was going to work financially" Jonah Birenbaum Judging by Anthopoulos' comments, it really, really sounds like Sanchez is headed for the bullpen.
flafson Verified Member Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Jon Berti http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/blue-jays-prospect-berti-opening-eyes-with-speed/ Looks like another candidate for 2nd base.

Nah, Berti can play like 6 positions... he's going to be a supersub, AAAA similar to Airmiles McCoy

Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 The next Goins but with more speeds I think Kawasaki without the hilarious insanity would be a better comp.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 The next Goins but with more speeds Berti has better offensive tools while being similarly skilled in defense. More speed and base stealing ability, more plate discipline, and more versatile

RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 I would put dickey in the bullpen With an arm like that you can easily get 300 innings of quality ball. In fact let him start everyday

BTS Community Moderator Posted January 29, 2015 Author Posted January 29, 2015 So 25-man something like: C - Martin 1B - Smoak/Valencia 2B - Santiago 3B - Donaldson SS - Reyes CF - Pompey/Pillar LF - Saunders RF - Bautista DH - Encarnacion Smoak/Valencia Pillar/Pompey Navarro Izturis SP - Sickey SP - Stroman SP - Buehrle SP - Hutchison SP - Norris BP - Cecil BP - Loup BP - Estrada BP - Belisario BP - Redmond (out of options) 2 of Sanchez/Guilmet/Lopez/Hendriks/Infante/Jenkins/Drabek/West Battles: - last two bullpen spots - Tolleson (out of options) and Kawasaki could take spots from Izturis or Santiago - Is there room for Dirks? Looks like he'd have to take a spot from Pillar/Pompey, but we probably need the CF platoon - Sanchez and/or Estrada could give Norris a run for the last rotation spot.

BTS Community Moderator Posted January 29, 2015 Author Posted January 29, 2015 Matt West another guy that could make BP. Good call. Also, Drabek is out of options. Wouldn't be surprised to see him get a spot.
LunchBox Verified Member Posted January 29, 2015 Posted January 29, 2015 Ugh $9 million sitting on the bench, not like they could be replaced by Goins and Jimenez for nothing

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 Matt West another guy that could make BP. Infante and Tepera over him for me.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 2B - Santiago Wait... What? Santiago who?
deepz Verified Member Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 Are people high on Drabek? If so, any reason? I want him to do well, just thought he stalled in Buffalo.
BTS Community Moderator Posted January 30, 2015 Author Posted January 30, 2015 Are people high on Drabek? If so, any reason? I want him to do well, just thought he stalled in Buffalo. Not really. Might make more sense to give him a last kick at then can than drop him though. I think being out of options will probably buy him a month.

Not high, but expect him to carve out a MLB career as a swingman He had a couple of very good starts for the Jays, the talent is undeniable

BTS Community Moderator Posted January 30, 2015 Author Posted January 30, 2015 Ala Jeremy Jeffress? (8.16 K, 2.81 BB, 0.28 HR)/9, 59% GB rate Meh, I'm not sweating the loss of Jeffress. I'll be more surprised if he repeats his performance than if he walks 4+/9 and spends time in AAA.

I think being out of options will probably buy him a month. Oh okay thanks. I looked through his appearances last year and it seemed that when they pulled him from the rotation he did a lot better. I'd like to at least believe we got something, anything of value in that Halladay trade. I guess Gose = Travis.
