BTW, Pentecost is back throwing and batting:

And Hoffman was said to be up to 89-90 in his bullpens, but that article was from 3 weeks ago:

Hoffman has apparently been throwing bullpens every Monday and Friday. Back to throwing some breaking balls too.

What about Jacob Anderson?

He could be our Steven Moya the next year :)

Anthopoulos on Janssen: "We had some conversations, but I don't think it was going to work financially"

Judging by Anthopoulos' comments, it really, really sounds like Sanchez is headed for the bullpen.

The next Goins but with more speeds

Berti has better offensive tools while being similarly skilled in defense. More speed and base stealing ability, more plate discipline, and more versatile

Haven't seen this posted elsewhere, but...

Edit: Apparently I should read all the threads before posting...

I would put dickey in the bullpen

With an arm like that you can easily get 300 innings of quality ball. In fact let him start everyday

your posts get dumber by the day

So 25-man something like:

C - Martin

1B - Smoak/Valencia

2B - Santiago

3B - Donaldson

SS - Reyes

CF - Pompey/Pillar

LF - Saunders

RF - Bautista

DH - Encarnacion

Smoak/Valencia

Pillar/Pompey

Navarro

Izturis

SP - Sickey

SP - Stroman

SP - Buehrle

SP - Hutchison

SP - Norris

BP - Cecil

BP - Loup

BP - Estrada

BP - Belisario

BP - Redmond (out of options)

2 of Sanchez/Guilmet/Lopez/Hendriks/Infante/Jenkins/Drabek/West

Battles:

- last two bullpen spots

- Tolleson (out of options) and Kawasaki could take spots from Izturis or Santiago

- Is there room for Dirks? Looks like he'd have to take a spot from Pillar/Pompey, but we probably need the CF platoon

- Sanchez and/or Estrada could give Norris a run for the last rotation spot.

Matt West another guy that could make BP.

Good call. Also, Drabek is out of options. Wouldn't be surprised to see him get a spot.

Ugh $9 million sitting on the bench, not like they could be replaced by Goins and Jimenez for nothing

Ouch. Reality hurts. Add Romero's $7M to that and you damn near have a year of Shields.

Are people high on Drabek? If so, any reason?

I want him to do well, just thought he stalled in Buffalo.

Not really. Might make more sense to give him a last kick at then can than drop him though. I think being out of options will probably buy him a month.

Not high, but expect him to carve out a MLB career as a swingman

He had a couple of very good starts for the Jays, the talent is undeniable

Ala Jeremy Jeffress?

(8.16 K, 2.81 BB, 0.28 HR)/9, 59% GB rate :)

Meh, I'm not sweating the loss of Jeffress. I'll be more surprised if he repeats his performance than if he walks 4+/9 and spends time in AAA.

Sounds a lot like Sanchez.

Oh okay thanks. I looked through his appearances last year and it seemed that when they pulled him from the rotation he did a lot better.

I'd like to at least believe we got something, anything of value in that Halladay trade. I guess Gose = Travis.

Jeffress was elite for 73 innings

MLB 32 IP: (8.16 K, 2.81 BB, 0.28 HR)/9, 59% GB

MiLB 41 IP: (9.72 K, 3.89 BB, 0.0 HR)/9

I wouldn't expect mid-20s reliever with those numbers to be a useful MLB player.
