RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 Why hasn't BTS updated the first post yet. Isn't that the whole point of this thread. I am tempted to remove my thanks.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 Any idea what Aoki will sign for? Estimated guess by the MLB industry is 8 per 2, it'll get cheaper after that, obviously.
Governator Community Moderator Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 I am onboard with signing Rasmus to play LF for 1-year. I am sure his agent would recommend he only sign a 1-year deal to rebuild his value. Does anyone think we could sign Nelson Cruz to a 3-year deal, throw him in LF and part time DH? Would a 3-year, $38M deal get him? Cheaper than Melky, slightly better in LF, older so maybe cheaper? Just wondering what you all think of that... Cruz will land a larger contract than Cabrera. Age aside, he's still the MLB homerun leader and someone will overpay for him.
RIPEXPOS Verified Member Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 I'm fine with rolling the dice with in-org options at 2B and CF, considering the solid presence of veterans and a good prospect at both spots. LF and DH need to be addressed though. As does the backend of our pen. A top end starter would be a major luxury too.
Westfan Verified Member Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 Does anyone know what the health of Dirks is. Is he back swinging a bat?
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 I always wonder about stuff like that. It'd be cool to have Stroman on a podcast. Probably one of the more interesting guys in all of baseball.

Pete_7 Verified Member Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 Can he play LF? I'm gonna go with yes
Corporal Valdal Verified Member Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 I have aways been a fan of his. He is always a threat at the plate and has passable defence but that is in RF. I have never seen him in LF before only at the start of his career, which know seems like a life time ago. If we can get him at 3/30 or 4/44 I would be a really happy camper
Brenner Verified Member Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 Markakis would be a great fit with this team, he would be a plus defender in LF I think.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 Markakis would be a great fit with this team, he would be a plus defender in LF I think. He's a below average fielder in right, and he's 31 now. I always sort of got the impression that he was a good fielder, and he definitely has a great arm, but looking at the numbers right now, he's generally negative (-5.5 career UZR, 1 positive UZR year in the past 6, last season actually...). http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=5930&position=OF#fielding Another guy I wouldn't mind on a short term deal, but wouldn't really want him for a longer contract. O's are smart to not want to go 4 years with him.

JaysAllMighty Old-Timey Member Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 So any chances that AA goes after Markakis?
BallsDeep Verified Member Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 I dont know who this guy is tweeting but... 9600 followers Frank Pimentel @FrankBostonTank 1h1 hour ago #BlueJays have expressed serious interest in James Shields, per source. Toronto could use veteran starter to go with that great lineup. #MLB
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 Let the Bodies Hit the floor!!! Yes be true:) remember AA I did say please on this also. Thank you in advance !

Not going to happen unless its someone like BNS or Shi tweeting it out.

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 Ur definitely right. Just fun to speculate. AA also came out and said on radio that the 3 areas they are looking to address is LF, 2B and BP. With only limited $ available they aren't going to be signing a big money FA.

Governator Community Moderator Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 Is it just me or does it seem like every active thread is basically the same conversation? I think I shall just stay in this one the remainder of the year.

GreekFatAss Verified Member Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 Would anyone be interested in Volquez for the bullpen? Good peripherals and velocity and would probably see an increase there which would help his stuff.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 Spice up your meatloaf by adding a cheese tunnel. Build a flat bottom layer from the ground meat mixture, place alternating cheddar and mozzarella sticks and then build around and over the cheese. Don't leave any cracks or the cheese will leak out you'll have a mess on your hand. Be like a brick layer with that s*** and enjoy!
