burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 PETCO? lol Thats why I had to add the thing about pitcher's parks because some idiot would reference OPS without looking at park factors.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Or management spending 3+ million on someone that's no better than whom they currently employ. Headley was having a pretty s***** year pre trade. . Hey there mike Wilner
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Wilner had it right a platoon of tolleson and Kawasaki is just as good as Prado Don't know why ppl are upset.
Brenner Verified Member Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Prado while having a bad year is still better than the options at 2b we have. He might end up producing more war in his 100 or so "bad" games for Arizona than our Kawa/Tolly/Goins combo will for the year. Though to be honest I've been saying for a long time now Reyes should be at 2b and we should be looking for a SS.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Wilner had it right a platoon of tolleson and Kawasaki is just as good as Prado Don't know why ppl are upset. Mike Wilner is never wrong!
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 You can try to justify it all you want. If you have an OPS of 650 you're having a pretty s***** year at the plate regardless of what park you're in. Well first of all your facts are wrong since he has a OPS of .679. There are much better stats like wRC+ to use to tell how good a player has been at the plate. His wRC+ is 96 now so he has been a little below average, but the defence makes up for it.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Nothing wrong about my facts. At the time of the trade he had a 651 OPS. What he's done since is irrelevant. If Alex had made the trade that Elliot proposed was on the table the Jays may or may not be another game or two above .500 and still out of the playoff picture. The difference being that you whinny bitches would be bitching about an overpay for a rental instead of the lack of one. The trade would have had an uplifting impact on the clubhouse, and Bautista and Company would have had a much better August. It was the lack of moves at the deadline that killed the spirit of this team Just because you cant quantify qualitative factors, doesn't make them irrelevant
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 How'd that work out for Detroit and Oakland? They are both going to the playoffs,
Vincent Verified Member Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 They are both going to the playoffs, Wildcard berth is not playoffs IMO. Though Detroit should still likely win the division.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Wildcard berth is not playoffs IMO. Though Detroit should still likely win the division. well then your opinion is factually incorrect.
Vincent Verified Member Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 well then your opinion is factually incorrect. No. You said they are "both" going to the play-offs. Oakland may not even win a WC spot let alone make the "play-offs". By the way, I have no idea why you're not on my IL already.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 No. You said they are "both" going to the play-offs. By the way, I have no idea why you're not on my IL already. lol you said a wild card birth is not playoffs That is factually incorrect, because wild cards are part of MLB Playoffs Oakland has a 2 game lead, with about 12 games to go. Add to that, Seatle has lots of games against LA. Oakland is likely going to the playoffs as is Detroit
Chappy Community Moderator Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 One is right and the other is incredibly wrong.

dannyboy Verified Member Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Try to trade Navarro. Rasmus- gone Morrow- renegotiate or let him walk Mcgowan- gone Janssen- gone Melky- reasonable 3-4 year contract resign or let him walk Happ- pick up option Santos- gone Lind- pick up option Izturis- buy him out Valencia- gone Kawasak- if he'll sign the same contract bring him back Francisco- IDK Thole- IDK Buehrle- try to trade Reyes- try to trade Navarro - I keep. Morrow - I decline the option, and try to resign him as a reliever. He can't start anymore. Melky - I feel like he can be worth the 12-14 it would take to sign him. Defensively, he probably only has 1-2 years left. After that, he's the full-time DH with the occasional OF start. Happ - Decline and resign as a long reliever or minor league starting depth Izturis - I keep, decent bench bat, good defensive versatility. Valencia - keep, if he can be had for less than 3M in arbitration. Good bat, occasional starter Kawasaki - Minor league depth Francisco - Gone. Too much swing and miss for that kind of power. Thole - need him for Dickey, as no other catcher has proven capable of catching a knuckler. Reyes - Keep, only true leadoff hitter we have, and his contract absolutely makes hum untradeable. The rest, I agree with.

Mikeleelop Verified Member Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 so in the keith law chat today he stated that AA was permitted to trade but not to add ANY ADDITIONAL salary during the season. This, if true, is utter ********. Rogers should catch a whole lot of s*** from fans everywhere. To be so close and not add any salary is cruel and unusual punishment.

But AA and Beeston claimed that the money was there!
Vincent Verified Member Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 But AA and Beeston claimed that the money was there! With the oversized Buehrle and Reyes contracts did you honestly expect that they would spend any money...
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 But AA and Beeston claimed that the money was there! A lie that would only make them seem more incompetent if we actually believed it.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 With the oversized Buehrle and Reyes contracts did you honestly expect that they would spend any money... No he didn't. His point is they were lying.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Happ - Decline and resign as a long reliever or minor league starting depth Happ gets more than his option ($6.7M IIRC) on the open market, so if you decline that option, he's gone.
Vincent Verified Member Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 No he didn't. His point is they were lying. I know. I'm just saying I never figured they would spend regardless of what was said. The only reason Rogers had money for 2013 was because Nadir Mohamed decided to go out with a bang.
BTS Community Moderator Posted September 18, 2014 Author Posted September 18, 2014 A lie that would only make them seem more incompetent if we actually believed it. That's the amazing thing. They aren't even lying competently.
