JaysFan4Ever Verified Member Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 that curveball was nasty It looks like he's got it back. Nice snap to it as opposed to his meltdowns where they were flat and smashed.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Doesn't really matter who they play, they played some of their best baseball against a really tough schedule coming out of the break. Those teams you listed are not very good and much weaker than the teams they played on their big run. Rays took 3 of 4 from Baltimore last time. They're a dangerous team to the O's. And the Red Sox and Jays are 6-7 vs. the O's. Only the Yanks are truly awful vs. the O's.. but they'll likely have Tanaka back by that series.
JaysFan4Ever Verified Member Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 BALL GAME! Janssen we've missed you.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Jays win, Mariners lose, Jays pick up ground. Now only 3.5 back, and 6.5 back on Baltimore.

Looking at head to head matchups is pretty useless when predicting games in the future. Blue Jays swept the As at home and the As did the same thing later on in the season when the Blue Jays went there. Baseball is a game of individual matchups not like football where you could say a teams Defensive style really matches up well with another team's offence and so on.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Good GDT from everybody, and it ends in a satisfying win.
JaysFan4Ever Verified Member Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 meaningful baseball this late in the season is fantastic. They're going to have to go on a tear and have a nice winning streak if they want to keep up. I don't like the idea of taking the 2nd WC and facing the Angels in a do-or-die one game deal. At least they still have some games left with the Os so if they can keep it going, play solid ball pick up a couple games, it could come down to the wire with who takes the division though the Yankees don't seem to want to quit either.
CJ-Freeway Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Good win boys!! But we'll have to go on a winning streak if we want those playoff hopes to remain alive.

May not even be the Angels in a one-game playoff. Angels lead 5-2 vs. the Rangers and will move into the division lead with a win, as the A's have just lost to the Braves 4-3. A's now only lead the 1st wild card by 5.5... and have the Angels next weekend. Oakland has not faced LA since June.. and the trade of Cespedes may give the Angels more of an advantage offensively, regardless of the A's pitching.
theblujay Verified Member Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 I won't buy back in to the playoff hopes unless the go on say a 5 game streak or 8/10...

Team will need to be at least 10 games over .500. It's not out of the question, but every time they've gotten to that level, they've crashed back to around 5 games over.

Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Nice win today, need to win tomorrow!

Same here They have several more losses than teams they're supposedly contending with. They need to win a bunch, in a hurry. AND THEN they need help from the bottom dwellers. Cause all these games down the stretch against other AL East teams aren't going to help in the battle for a wildcard spot - they're not who we're competing with.
