IBTrini Verified Member Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Thing is, they were down by 5 today against David Price and they won the game...could easily say this one should've been a loss. Take the 2 of 3 and move on.. That is what made the game even more amazing. How could this team, as it is currently made up, come back from such a huge deficit and against good pitching as well. Great win for the Jays.
IBTrini Verified Member Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Whether or not he wanted to, he certainly wasn't expecting to... This comment reminded me of Dickey's action with Bautista at the interview. He gave Bautista a big kiss on his cheek almost like he was implying "Thanks for saving me from having to come into the game".
comeon sense Verified Member Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Goins sent down Good move for now. Could be making a place for Norris? My guess is most likely lind.
comeon sense Verified Member Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Gee,i wonder what the Detroit Tigers message boards fans are saying after this game.
Caper Verified Member Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Sellout crowd, we better make this a game ok.
Inklink Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Un-fkign-real! What a game. I had to catch up a bit on PVR, got the TSN text, just read "blue jays" then stopped reading. So it wasn't a total spoiler. Unbelievable performance by the pen. What a come back. Played 2+ games on a Sunday afternoon. Francisco is s***. Bautista had a rough game but got the big hit. Rasmus was amazing in the field. So much drama. WOW. #BlueJays Melky Cabrera is the first player in the last century with 3 hits & 5 walks in a game Beauty. Sign him 15*4! Jenkins just wanted to thank fans for sticking around and cheering THIS GUY IS PERFECT Jenkins and Redmond GOAT.
Vincent Verified Member Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Reimold was pretty useless tonight / 5 strike-outs. Such a long looking swing. But I guess nobody's holding it against him after the 2 HR game and the walk-off yesterday.
walkoff93 Verified Member Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Anyone know the Jays record when they wear the Red Uniforms? Have they ever lost?
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Gee,i wonder what the Detroit Tigers message boards fans are saying after this game. Grilling Ausmus/Lamont/Dombrowski, Nathan, and others. And you thought our franchise was a mess..
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Grilling Ausmus/Lamont/Dombrowski, Nathan, and others. And you thought our franchise was a mess.. Remember, they traded Doug Fister to free up payroll room to sign Joe Nathan lol. They wouldn't have had to acquire Price if they still had Fister.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Remember, they traded Doug Fister to free up payroll room to sign Joe Nathan lol. Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Can Lind play 2B or 3B? Not a lot of guys who throw left can...

DD has a great trade history! I tend to think he's decent overall; you could do a lot worse with old school GMs. Cherington's alright but he's not near Beane-Friedman levels.
Inklink Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 PS: What's with the chicks doing them stupid dances on top of the dugout. They're in sync, but looks like random arm flailing.
jays76 Verified Member Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 What a game, by far my favorite GDT. I can't believe I was on there for 6 plus hrs with you yahoos. Reyes costly errors and then redeeming himself, Buehrle typically being a pinata, Melky being an absolute beast, Joey Bats blowing a billion chances and then finally cashing in, Chad Jenkins digging crazy deep within himself and gutting out a victory...and before I forget how about a round of applause for our forgotten hero Todd Redmond, the guy came in down 5-0 and held the fort for multiple innings to get us within striking distance.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 I doubt the next 3 GDT's combined comes close to the 104 pages of this one.
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 That was a great game. I was mainly watching the PGA championship but kept coming back to see so many squandered chances by both teams. Detroit gets 22 hits IIRC and only cashes in 5 runs wow.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Man what a great game this one. I obviously stayed the whole game like a true fan, by the end nobody remembered that at one point it was 5-0 and Reyes had completely f***ed up the game. This was one of the only times since Reyes has been on the team that I was actually glad when he came up to bat, the guy cleaned up his mess big time, props to him.

Wait, you actually flipped away from a game like this one to tune in to golf???
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Lol.... JD Martinez....... game over. That's the game folks. Duck you Reyes and Buehrle. Game is over. Price will never give up 3 another home series loss I just love that posts like this were made less than 10 minutes into the game. Oh how ignorant they look now...
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Sellout crowd, we better make this a game Post of the day. Unfortunately half of the people were gone by the 5th inning, and even more left from the 9th to the 10th inning.
Art Vandelay Verified Member Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Post of the day. Unfortunately half of the people were gone by the 5th inning, and even more left from the 9th to the 10th inning. I left after the eleventh. Just as well, there was no way I would sit their that long.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 (edited) He sucks in CF. People continue to argue with me. Another one for the record books. Edit: wRC+ Can blow me he has been awful. Sure let's just ignore the best metric we have available to judge hitters at the moment because you hate Rasmus that much. Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 I left after the eleventh. Just as well, there was no way I would sit their that long. Are you a baseball fan? I don't see how anyone could leave a game like that one unless they had some kind of family emergency or simply didn't like baseball.
Art Vandelay Verified Member Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 One of the my friends was invited to a house warming party downtown during the game, and the other isn't a sports fan at all, so we all decided to just take off. And I had a feeling the game might come to a point where I would be begging for it to be over. Six and a half hours is insane.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 I just finished reading this entire thread

Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2014 Author Posted August 11, 2014 Jays getting lots of credit on mlb.com tonight. Not only did we get to see Jenkins perform spectacular and watch the longest game in jays history but also Melky getting on base 8 times. First time since 1972! SIGN THIS GUY PLEASE
