Notes:

Jays:

  • Buehrle allowed one run over 6 2-3 innings for his first win since June 1. Buehrle yielded four runs over 6 1-3 innings in a 4-2 loss at Baltimore on June 12, dropping to 1-4 with a 5.86 ERA against the Orioles since the start of last year. Melky Cabrera has had his number over the years, going 17 for 30 with two homers in their matchups.
  • Toronto had won six straight and nine of 10 after beating Houston 6-5 on Thursday, but it went on to lose the final three games of that series by a combined 17-4. The Blue Jays fell 6-1 on Sunday to conclude a 6-4 trek.
  • Blue Jays shortstop Jose Reyes has hit safely in 28 of his last 35 games since June 24. Jose Bautista has reached base safely in 97 of his 106 starts this season, and has reached base safely in 13 straight games since July 22.

Orioles:

  • Norris threw seven scoreless innings in Thursday's 1-0, 13-inning defeat to the Los Angeles Angels. The right-hander has already faced Toronto three times this year, going 2-0 with a 1.83 ERA.
  • Baltimore's Nelson Cruz is batting .365 with five homers and 14 RBIs during a 14-game stretch against Toronto. However, Cruz has gone a major league-worst 7 for 70 with one RBI and 18 strikeouts since July 11. Markakis, 8 for 16 in four games this month, is hitting .328 in his last 15 north of the border.
  • Nick Markakis and Adam Jones have played every game this season for the Orioles, making them the only teammates to appear in every game for their club this season.

Good chance for a win tonight. Most of Buehrle's numbers are only strong vs. Markakis, Young and Jones.. wouldn't be surprised if Buehrle tries not to pitch to them.

The Orioles have such a good defence. Hardy and Machado get to pretty much everything hit to the left side.

It's also the only reason the O's are contending even with a mediocre lineup that has struggled in the 2nd half because of Cruz's regression. This team is also incredibly lucky as well.. their Pyth. record is 4 games worse than their actual record. By that measure, Toronto is better than them(60-53).

Or maybe the Jays are just not as good as the O's.

s*** I hope I'm wrong but I'm expecting a 3 game sweep by the O's. How can u feel confident after s***ing the bed against the Astros and include the way Baltimore have been playing. None the less lets go Jays! We need this.

Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports reported that Andrew Friedman of the Rays was interested in acquiring the rights to Blue Jays AA prospect GD during last Thursday’s non-waiver trade deadline.

Advice: “The Rays made headlines last week by finally sending star pitcher David Price packing to the Detroit Tigers for a package consisting of Drew Smyly and Nick Franklin. Not much is known about the prospect the Rays inquired about, but it is known that the Rays would like to infuse some much needed talent to their posting staff. While GD hasn’t posted “sexy” traditional stats during his time in the minors, his career minor league jPAR spanning two seasons is outstanding. If Andrew Friedman was interested, chances are he makes for a great minor league stash in all deep keeper leagues.” – rotoworld.

The Rays want to acquire GD to increase traffic on their forum.
