Man. It's too bad, Colby Rasmus is one of my favourite Jays.

I would love for him to sign a one year deal here to try and rebuild his value. He was looking like he would get a massive contract after his 2013 season.

Wasn't this similar to what happen in St. Louis?

If I were him and I wasn't having success doing it "my way" in a contract year, I'd do whatever was needed. Then again who really knows what's going on behind the scenes?

He had tons of success pre Seitzer though. He put up a 4.7 fWAR season last year. Hit 128 wRC+. Yeah, he was a bit lucky (356 BABIP) so he's probably just trying to go back to things he did last year.

Interesting article. Look's like rasmus wants to do things his own way. was he not having success with his bat closer to his body before he had his hamstring injury?

Pretty clear he won't be back next year...

I didn't read the article but I hated from the outset his arms out and over plate to start his swing...caused too much motion and he was over committing early. When he held his arms in and back before he went on DL he started to hit the ball better. Now Ive seen him go back to out over plate when he came back from DL.

Don't get that...what an awful season for him. worse than 2012 on O and his D has also fallen off. Thought he was looking at 5/75 deal if his 2013 progression continued.

True. But he didn't have his hands like that in 2013 though...which is what I don't get.

There is no evidence this is happening.

Say your wife sneaks out of the house around 12 AM and comes back at 2 AM every night. There's no evidence of her cheating on you, is there?

Her leaving every night at 12AM would be pretty good evidence. The Bluejays offered Tony a consulting job, which he turned down.

Almost the exact same hitter as last year, just way unluckier this year.

Yup. Quite lucky last year. Quite unlucky this year.

Good post. Rasmus is very NOT the type of hitter that should hit for a high BABIP. This is standard for him and the people touting him up in the offseason had the blinders on. Guy should have been traded last offseason.

Crap, I forgot how much he struck out last year. This year seemed horrendous in that regard but it's really barely different.

I like his dad a lot. Seems genuine. Colby likes to tinker too much. I suppose finding a guy who Colby gels with would be in the best interest of the jays.

I've always suspected that Colby gets in own way with his constant, unnecessary adjustments.

Not sure if it was posted yet but theres an article on mlb.com(it's to hard to post it off my phone) Tony Rasmus talking about how the effects of La russa haven't worn off.

Like I said before the season started, Rasmus shouldn't be in the picture, beyond this year. Questionable/average D (even when metrics were screaming something different). He's deteriorating (even though he might have prolonged hot streaks which will get people excited ... yet again.

Gose is the play beyond this year. That was the message before the season, and nothing has changed. Rasmus can go diddle himself and his swing with some other organization who wants to bang their head against a wall for fun.

Yep

I've said it 100 times. I don't want to keep Colby at what he's going to get paid even now. I'm good with Gose every day in CF as long as we keep 2 good hitters in the OF with him (Cabrera or equivalent and Bautista). As long as they also shore up the infield.

I DO hope Colby plays well enough to help us this year and make him worth a qualifying offer.

that boat has already sailed. he's not worth a Q offer. the team would be too terrified he'd accept.

The effects of Tony Rasmus are stronger. Which is why Dopey Dog is a goner following this year.

both rasmus's don't understand that mlb coaching is a lot better then what either of them can do. Superstars don't become superstars without guidance and good coaching.

That boat HAS NOT already sailed. There are still 2 months of the season left. He could still finish with great numbers if he gets it going soon.

Why are there so many whiny, excuse-making bitches on this team?
