I posted that because of the humor and irony involved but seriously that's what they just announced on Sportsnet.

I was saying that the people around the game at the time were hearing that d'Arnaud was untradeable. People still believe in rumours that AA didn't want to give up d'Arno in a trade for Latos

I don't remember that but I'll have to take your word for it.

Breaking news: After the Lester trade is announced the Jays say they're not looking for a short term fix as per Shi Davidi.

he reported that last night....not that I agreed with it then or now..

Billy Beane has some big cojones. He's a genius if they win it all and not so much if they don't, I wonder how the A's fans are reacting? Pitching wins you games in the playoffs (hint hint Jays).

You can say the same about Alex Anthopoulos as well, albeit Beanes farm is deeper and the MLB squad is much better with their starting pitching as you noted after going "all in". These trades the last few months have been very "un-beane like".

Cosart + Fields here we go!!

Time for the Jays to shock the world and land Price.

Jays would need to include Stroman, Sanchez and likely some other player. Would be a very dumb move and the productivity both of those players are providing right now, Price is essentially a wash for a playoff push in return.

Meanwhile... Rogers too cheap to take on salary! Now the A's will take the AL pennant for sure.

Or AA has been too inefficient with the money he was given by Rogers. Basically the same thing.

I wouldn't trade stroman for price straight up at this point.

The Royals play the athletics 7 times and Seattle has them 6 times more...so this pleases me. The wild card is truly in the jays sights although I'd still rather win the division.

Yeah, that's a tough one..... but 1.5 years of price, and these are not just any 1.5 years, they are probably the best chance we have for the next 10 years.

It's possible Stroman's value right now is at it's highest...

No doubt Beane has moneyballed his way to a position of power and has completely gone in the opposite direction now because he feels he's a few pieces away, kudos to him if it pans out. The AA situation was fairly similar in that he bided his time and also went for it feeling he was a few pieces away except he fell flat on his face. Maybe he could've spent his money wiser, maybe it was all just bad luck with Johnson, Romero, and Morrow completely flaming out. Ultimately we're still in this though, I really hope he goes out and gets a SP.

What about Sanchez, Norris, Pompey, Nolin, and Smoral for Price? Basically it amounts to this year and next of playoffs and going for it in the Bautista, EE, Reyes, Lind all in their prime window.

If you're reading AA, don't do this.

The people who say they wont do stroman for price straight up or not to include sanchez for price because all this productivity and stuff are crazy we know what Price is and how much he can help this team. Stroman and Sanchez have a couple of good games and literally couple of good innings for Sanchez and you wouldn't trade him for a Legit Ace/ Top 5 pitcher. I remember the days when Ricky,McGowan and Marcum were supposedly our "saviors" and we all know how that turned out the truth of the matter is you don't know what these players will become but you know what Price is.

Except Stroman specifically has been extremely productive right now. The idea of acquiring a starter is to upgrade Happ not Stroman.

I don't know why people do these hypothetical trade scenarios... they're a colossal waste of time, there's no point to them.

BC Sanchez throws 99 omg. Plusorrow coming back equals ace acquired at deadline

So you would take what could possibly be a couple of months of extremely productive lightning in a bottle over constant domination season after season? I mean don't get me wrong Stroman could be the real deal but we've seen this plenty of times before, There was once a time we all thought JP was a monster also and many inducted Lawrie into the HOF already, Anyways i probably wouldn't trade Stroman in a package for price myself but Sanchez and others sure

Look Stroman may turn into a pumpkin down the road, you never know, but that's hardly relevant to the discussion. You're trading a player who is helping you win now in a win now trade. Do you not see the contradiction?

Alternatively, and hopefully not, Price's arm could explode and Stroman could end up going on a multi season run of dominance. Pitchers, man.

That's exactly where I'm at with the exception of trading Stro, I love his will to win and competitive spirit. We need him in this rotation for a magical run but as far as anyone on the farm goes they're all uncertainties for 2 years of trying to win a title! Price is a top of the game CY winning pitcher, I wish people would wake up!! We're in a pennant race here and this is the window, the time is now!!! Hitters like Bautista & Encarnacion don't come around that often and I'm tired of investing in tomorrow, this is their time. We have the team right in front of us we just need a serious piece to say a few years from now when looking back that we took a shot! If not then tear it all down and let's twiddle our thumbs for another half decade or longer..

I can't believe they traded him. Just. Wow.

love a trade that takes me by surprise and this certainly did that!

out and about so im unable to look up numbers but out of interest where did cespedes rank on the top 100 players by trade value?

Ummm because where else better to hypothetically discuss our baseball team than on a Toronto Blue Jay chat site?

The thing is, it would cost BOTH for Price. And yes, we know what we'd get from Price, we also know we'd get 40 expensive starts and then he'd be gone.

And Stroman is under club control for the next 6 years and isn't ARB eligible for another 3. No way I trade Stroman for a year and two months of Price at this point.

I would have no problem dealing Sanchez for Price.

Thats what i pretty much said in my last post, especially if we see and are gonna use him as a reliever

So Cespedes' contract requires him to be nontendered after next year.

So he isn't eligible for a QO.
