Zaun could have eaten a truck load of steroids and he'd still barely be mediocre.

 

Bonds was one of the best hitters to ever play the game and was actually one of the best defenders in the game in his first years.

Baseball players have been cheating forever. When these guys were juicing steroids and HGH were not banned. Most of them never failed a drug test. Its really a stupid they are playing hard ball now. Barry Bonds is a f***ing hall of fame. This guy was unreal his entire career. All players in every generation looked for an advantage. Anyone who doesn't believe that is stupid.

 

I agree but there are different types of advantages. 50 years ago players would look at stuff that would help them play through pain or be more alert / awake. Muscle enhancing / endurance type substances are a different story.

Bonds for sure is a natural talent that didn't need steroids to get into the HOF, although his numbers would not be as inflated as they are.

 

More importantly, he would not have passed Aaron as the HR King.
