Awwwww....now you're just being cute! You're really good at posting cartoons, maybe that can be your new thing. It's a nifty way to ignore what people actually said.

You see, if you take a moment to read what was originally said - "This is quite the 180 for someone who was so passionately against any team viewing Headley as an upgrade" - you'll notice this is true regardless of when you changed your mind or if we knew about it. Nothing about that "premise" as you call it is incorrect. Anytime someone argues against something with as much passion as you did and then changes their mind (especially when the "new information" is rather insignificant) it's surprising.

That's really all there is to it. No need to get all wound up, you're no less of a person!

Can we rebuild for real now?

If they do nothing and then finish 3rd or 4th in this s***** 2014 AL East it's not going to be pretty.

Bautista will lose his s*** and demand to be traded

First time posting. I generally just read forums. However, I am not sure if I'd be completely upset if Jose Bautista lost his s*** and demanded to be traded. On the down side, it looks pretty bad for the franchise when your star player demands a trade. In addition, this team is pretty close to contending (in my mind, needing 3-4 more pieces) so we'd have to start from scratch again. On the other hand, it almost forces Anthopolous to start another rebuild. This way, AA can trade Bautista for a haul of young MLB-ready prospects while not having to deal with the backlash of selling his best player while the team is semi-close to a playoff birth.

You had me until the part where Anthopolous starts another rebuild. In my opinion, AA's tenure as GM is over once the "window" closes.

I can see the merits of a teardown beginning with Bautista, but ideally AA is in Greece knee deep in authentic cuisine when it happens.

Welcome to the board.

I agree too

Except as Daylan said already, AA probably isn't around for the rebuild

To be honest, I don't completely disagree with you. However, I think that AA and Beeston are too tight for the Beest to terminate AA. Ideally I'd like to bring in a GM that knows how to rebuild, sort of like how the Cubs brought in Epstein. But I think as long as Beeston is around, we will never fully rebuild.

For what it's worth, I don't think AA is terrible. I think he has done a good job rebuilding the farm after trading it all away in 2012. I think the team needs one of two things: 1) a new President or 2) a new GM that won't let Beeston tell him what to do.

Edit: Hope I'm wrong about Beeston keeping AA.

I want that second part to be true. I still want to think that AA is a genius (albeit a flawed one) and Beeston is an overly controlling pompous ass. But we really just don't know what goes on in there and what moves MIGHT have happened if AA had more autonomy.

Headley and mccarthy may or may not make a difference but the Yankees are at least taking the chance that these guys will improve them and give them a better chance at competing this year. Its infuriating that AA continues to sit back, relax, call up goins, claim mills all while the teams around us get better.

At least be man enough to admit you are throwing in the towel on the season!

Really can't blame you for this line of thinking... It's truly inconceivable to know AA has done nothing but scrape the bottom of the barrel trying to catch lightning in a bottle

Heck he's not even thorough about scraping the bottom of the barrell. If he were, Soriano would be here.

No it’s not Chase Headley, the third baseman acquired by the Yankees from the Padres whom the Blue Jays had far less interest in than has been reported, nor will it be Alex Rios, the Texas Rangers outfielder they’re being linked to who isn’t on their radar, but getting their house in order now is crucial.

I like this deal for the Padres. De Paula is actually a pitcher that could be something. He's quite a bit better than Nolin. His ceiling is probably a #2 starter. He's got a plus fastball that can reach upper 90s, along with an average change and slider. He's a little on the older side, but lost a couple years due to visa/name issues. He's following the path of a college pitcher, except he was sitting out the years that a college pitcher would have been pitching in college. Jays probably would have had to trade Tirado to match De Paula. So would you guys wanna move Tirado for 3 months of a 3B who may be broke?

Yankees - where decrepit, broken ballplayers go to die

Headley is 30 and is going to be an above-average player for the 5th consecutive year this year.
