jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Relievers are so volatile. Sergio Santos is an example.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Apparently relief help is all the rage right now. Someone is going to pick him up. Oh for sure Lots of teams will be willing to gamble on him
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Sucks that the Jays just let go of an arm like Santos for nothing. JFaS is raging!
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Oh for sure Lots of teams will be willing to gamble on him I'd take a gamble on him and I'm sure there are 29 other teams that would as well. We'll see. If Santos doesn't get picked up by another team, I would be shocked.
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Wasnt Santos moved in the Ian Kinsler trade that didn't happen? This hurts. We could have had Gentry and his 1.1 m salary and 1.2 war for Santos.....
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 ftfy Estas tratando de insultar a mi rasa? Si, somos prostitutos!!
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 We could have had Gentry and his 1.1 m salary and 1.2 war for Santos..... Damn. Gentry would have been a very good fit.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Who would have thought that the Nestor Molina/Santos trade would end up having both sides lose.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Who would have thought that the Nestor Molina/Santos trade would end up having both sides lose. Basically ChiSox won but only on account of financial commitment. Crazy.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Since were scraping the barrel, lets take advantage of a rich team with a weak system by offering up a B prospect like Nolin + Romero for a PTBL or something. That's a big financial commitment for Nolin.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 LottOnBaseball The GM says Jays hope Santos clears waivers on Wednesday so they can send him to Buffalo to get work because he won't get work on Toronto.
CHRIS Verified Member Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 The only thing that I know for certain with this team is that if the Jays are in a high leverage, non-9th inning relief situation tonight, Rasmussen is going to get the call.

So he's been on waivers for how long?? (Ie. what's the total time period before clearing)

eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Wasn't even aware that he hadn't pitched for almost 10 days. Pretty surprised by this to be honest (and I'm his #1 hater).

eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Someone bump the "Santos is filthy" thread ASAP
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 To clear waivers takes 3 business days from when notice is sent to the other clubs ... whenever that was. Must have been placed on waivers this weekend based on AA's comments

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 I guess he's sucking his upper lip down pulling his nose with it
SAAviour Verified Member Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 This is AA creative accounting. The $750,000 buy out will count towards next years payroll the way Rogers does their accounting...which frees up the rest of his entire contract for this year. I'm guessing he gets claimed and within a few days AA has traded for someone like Headley...the only problem with my line of thinking is, if other teams want Santos couldn't AA have dumped him for nothing in a trade without the DFA.

That's the thing...interested teams think that he is going to be put on waivers anyway - why give him a player? Interested teams would be willing to take the risk of it being claimed by someone before them, but if not, they can easily take him on just for that salary for this year and maybe buy out the following years.
Governator Community Moderator Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 AA's google history. "How to lower MLB team salaries asap?" From Random Forum: "DFA players and email all teams a brochure."
CJ-Freeway Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Damn, dunno what to say about this. Incoming trade?
