Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/top-25-prospects-a-midseason-update/ Marc Hulet really likes Sanchez
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2014 Author Posted July 14, 2014 #13 Aaron Sanchez | Blue Jays (P) Age G GS IP H HR K/9 BB/9 ERA FIP 21 20 20 98.1 84 6 7.51 5.22 3.94 4.53 Trades over the past couple of seasons have left the cupboard bare in the upper levels of the Jays system in terms of depth. As such, the organization has been aggressive with some of its young arms, including Sanchez. He’s an extremely talented pitcher with the potential to produce above-average strikeout rates and ground-out rates but he also struggles with both his command and control. A previous shoulder injury appears to be behind him now. [Pre-season Ranking: 22nd]
Mikeleelop Verified Member Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 two top 25 prospects... I like where the farm system is going. Finally see some potential there for help in the next couple of years
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2014 Author Posted July 14, 2014 Trade them all for Cliff Lee. They serve no other purpose
TheHurl Site Manager Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 Hulet has never cared about walk rates for pitchers in the minors. He has 7 guys on that list that have an over 4 BB/9 rate (although Bundy shouldn't count)
Mikeleelop Verified Member Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 #22 Daniel Norris | Blue Jays (P) Age G GS IP H HR K/9 BB/9 ERA FIP 21 17 17 83.1 63 3 10.91 2.81 1.84 2.39 A highly-regarded amateur, Norris suffered through a nightmare first pro season in 2012 but made adjustments and rebounded nicely in the second half of 2013. He’s spent the 2014 season pitching in both High-A and Double-A ball and has struck out 101 batters in 83.1 innings. The lefty has great makeup, a strong work ethic and the pure stuff to be a No. 2 or 3 hurler once he becomes more consistent with his command. [Pre-season Ranking: N/A]

Nox Verified Member Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 Sanchez at 13 is egregious. Sanchez in the same breath as Gallo/Sano/Pederson is awful. I'd also rather have 1 JP Crawford over 2 Aaron Sanchezes.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 Sanchez has really done nothing to warrant a placement anywhere inside a Top 25. If I could use him as the main piece for Lee, Hamels, or Price, I'd be all over that.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2014 Author Posted July 14, 2014 http://www.minorleagueball.com/2014/7/14/5898649/minor-league-ball-top-75-prospects-mid-season-update-2014-sickels John Sickels joining in on the fun. Sanchez ranked #22
GD Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 Sanchez over Norris is bad. Sanchez 13 is bad. Drugs are bad. Mmkay?
SpeedyGose Verified Member Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 Stephenson drops 6 spots due to his performance this season. Yet he has a higher K/9, lower BB/9 and FIP than Sanchez who rises 9 spots. Makes sense
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 Sanchez at 13 is egregious. So is Archie Bradley at 9. At least he's ranked similar pitchers together. Good indicator that he values velo quite highly in pitching prospects.
