TDotttt2005 Verified Member Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 Seeing Giolito so high after same-draft-summer TJ surgery bodes well for Hoffman. Hopefully he is that high on the list come mid-season 2016.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 Who in their life would pay a major league ready top of the rotation pitching prospect for Castro?? The Tigers. Not to mention the Cubs aren't afraid to pursue and overpay top free agents. I think $35M comes off the books next year which brings them below $60M for a team that has been as high as $145M.
Nox Verified Member Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 Ang I reported you twice for these ridiculous ideas You're right: young, above average position players on reasonable contracts are practically given away all the time.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 Alcantra makes too much sense for us right now... surely won't happen. I'd have to disagree, the Jays' timeline for contention. They shouldn't bring in a AAA player unless the plan is to let the year play out and re-jig things in the off-season. IMO the Cubs' assets that makes the most sense for the Jays are Starlin Castro and EJax. Both can help right now and are on decent contracts.

GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 I think it was GD that said something like Norris is way more valuable than Severino. Seems like if the Cubs were asking for Severino for Valbuena it's not that unreal to think a 2B is going to cost us Pompey or Norris. The Yanks can have him at that price.

Not a lot of great value Projected to finish at 3.1 wins which, coincidentally, he's done exactly twice already. 15:$6M, 16:$7M, 17:$9M, 18:$10M, 19:$11M Nothing wrong with that contract for a player of his ability.
