MLB:

  • No Important Notes Today.

 

Jays:


  • Hutchison gave up one run and struck out a career-high 10 in seven innings of a 4-1 win over Milwaukee on Tuesday. He allowed eight runs over 10 1-3 innings while losing his previous two starts.
  • Injured Encarnacion leads the Majors with 49 extra-base hits, ahead of the Angels' Mike Trout (48 entering Saturday). Adam Lind will take the place of Encarnacion, who has 26 homers and is tied for the major league lead with 70 RBIs.
  • With their loss Thursday, the Blue Jays fell out of sole possession of first place in the AL East for the first time since May 21, dropping behind the Orioles on percentage points and now a full game back.

 

Athletics:

  • Shark will be making his A's debut and he last pitched June 28 when he gave up six runs - five earned - and seven hits in five innings of a 7-2 loss to Washington.
  • Josh Donaldson, Yoenis Cespedes and Derek Norris were all in line to start the All-Star Game in advance of Sunday's roster announcement. The A's have not had a fan-elected player since 2000.
  • Left-hander started Tommy Milone became a victim of numbers Saturday in the wake of Oakland's blockbuster trade with the Cubs, getting optioned to Triple-A Sacramento to make room on the 25-man roster for Samardzija.

That lineup looks god awful. Only 3 guys that can actually hit the ball and they are playing hurt.

Oh boy, his (Samardzjia's) athleticism was mentioned, now whenever he makes a routine play Pat will be drooling all over him.
