ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 Lol Lind might be the worst defensive player iv seen. He might be, but remember, he should probably have been put on the DL after injuring his foot, but this is the Blue Jays.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 Hutchinson (and all Tommy John guys) spend the whole off season on the 60 day DL... Again, my understanding is that the are taken off the 60 day DL before November 20. Once the Rule 5 draft has concluded, they can be placed on the 60 day DL again but you can't use the 60 man DL to hide players from the Rule 5 draft. That's why there's a cut-off.
BJsFans Verified Member Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 A walk, infield base hit and just caught a ball? #goodtogoglenn Now how about a 5 run gran-slam-plus lol
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 Why don't you ever emphasize how much better the middle defence is with Goins at second base? He does so many things better defensively that do not show up in the stats. Is it that difficult to comprehend? Preventing runs has been much less of an issue than scoring them has been lately...
North of 60 Verified Member Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 He might be, but remember, he should probably have been put on the DL after injuring his foot, but this is the Blue Jays. As long as you can hold a bat or put a glove on your hand you can still play for the Jays.

After doing a bit of reading, it would appear that you are correct... I was fairly certain I had seen players on the 60 during the off season on the Jays site, but that may have been an issue on their side... Regardless, while it isn't the whole off season, the DL does run for part of the off season, meaning it includes a good number of non-game-days.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 But Wilner promised that we were a good......ah f*** it NVM Wilner. It's a decent team when healthy and well rested, problem is, you can't expect any team to be healthy for 162 games, especially this bunch because of the history a few of them have. A solid bench gives the manager the option of resting regulars every now and then. Not saying injuries wouldn't have occurred with a proper bench, but players could've been rested a bit more.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 This just in: Ryan Goins frames pitches. You're such a f***ing idiot.

Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 Why is Melky swinging at ball 4?? Man this team is hard to watch.. We have scored 1 run this entire series if you ignore that protest run. 1 run the entire series! Why would you ignore the protest run? That was a legit run (protest on that was ridiculous)... Not that 2 runs the whole series is any better or anything.

The Jays lost Perez when they decided not to move him back on to the 40 man from the 60 day DL before the November 20 deadline.

Yep, I was wrong on the 60 day thing, but this conversation started because of the 15 day "days versus game days" thing, and I think we can all agree that it's "days" now, no?

BJsFans Verified Member Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 Can we just trade everyone? It's probably possible but, don't think it will happen. AA is busy acquiring DFA's from other clubs, solidifying the Bisons roster.

Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 Also, SMALL bright side here, but Lind made half decent contact against a lefty just then.

Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 Are you aware cats get the diabeeteez when they drink tapwater??? So far, my Metallijay sense is not tingling here.

gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 No, I understand he's good defensively. His problem is with the bat, which has been emphasized a lot. He can't hit. Ideally, neither Tolleson nor Kawasaki, nor Goins would be starting on this roster. But since AA has been reluctant to upgrade the team, that's who we are stuck with. I totally agree, but you have to go with the plus defender when choosing between the any of these sub par bats. Kawasaki's slightly better bat in no way outweighs the plus defence Goins brings. In tonight's game for example, Goins makes that over the shoulder catch earlier on, saving Bueurle a dozen pitches roughly. You have to choose the better defence when your talking about a bunch of replacement level players.
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
