jerb Verified Member Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 JIM BOWDEN @JimBowdenESPNxm Blue Jays giving serious consideration of bringing up Aaron Sanchez & Daniel Norris sometime after AS break to work & develop out of bullpen
Anemic0ffense Verified Member Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Desperation move if I ever saw one.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 So now Bowden is a legitimate source? LOL, anything to bash AA I guess. We'll see what happens.
Nox Verified Member Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Sanchez is not good/ready so that's an obviously bad idea. I'm sure Norris would be a fine loogy but why would you start his service time clock on such an experiment? It's not that hard to find a left handed slop baller that can fill that role fairly effectively.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 doesn't bother me as long as three things are happening 1. They acquire a starter 2. They are trading bullpen arms 3. they won't throw some arbitrary limit on them next season
SpeedyGose Verified Member Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Not sure why they need another lefty in the pen. Cecil and Loup are plenty good. Loup can even go back to being a LOOGY if they need him to with Santos, Dusty and Cecil all back

Also it's likely that the Jays are limiting Sanchez and Norris's innings to protect their arms this year.
flafson Verified Member Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Our pen sucks right now, can't say i blame them. It also worked alright with Stroman so they will try it on others.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 That's a good news. As long as both are ready. True Cards move
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 This would make trading for a frontline pitcher or Beltre unlikely....what can we get with our other (lower) prospects?

It did not work with Stroman in any sense. He came up said he was uncomfortable and had to go back down and get stretched out again. This would be an awful decision because: 1. Norris and Sanchez are used to starting and coming out of the bullpen will probably be uncomfortable for them. Stroman who used to be a reliever even said it was hard to adjust. 2. You are starting these prospects service time and wasting an option when you don't even know if they will perform. 3. Related to point #2, the upgrade you could expect even if all goes right is probably not worth very much. 4. There is no evidence to suggest these guys are even ready for the Big leagues. Sanchez has a terrible walk rate and the Ks are down. Norris has pitched 20 innings in AA. I have no idea what the Org. would be thinking if this happened. Hopefully Bowden is just being an idiot becasue he heard it from a scout who had an opinion.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 I highly doubt this is true He's probably reading in to things Pat Hengten DID say in an interview this week that he thought Sanchez could come up and pitch from the bullpen now and he'd be OK with it. Thinks he's just about ready.

Caper Verified Member Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 f*** it Trade for Prado, keep our top pitching prospects Roll the dice and see what happens It's funny reading about these pep talks from Eric Kratz. It's like it's the first time the pitchers have ever been told to throw strikes.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 I change my mind weekly about whether it's worth reaching for a 1/2 caliber starter or not We probably can't afford the prospects for Price or the $ for Lee Right now I feel like get Prado right away and say a prayer that the pitching staff holds on until someone among Morrow/Sanchez/Nolin are ready to contribute
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 f*** it Trade for Prado, keep our top pitching prospects Roll the dice and see what happens Agreed
TheHurl Site Manager Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 I2. You are starting these prospects service time and wasting an option when you don't even know if they will perform. It only wastes an option if you send them back down. If they stay up all year nothing changes. Sanchez has to be added to the 40 man in October anyway. It's only Norris where this is an issue. They will come up after the super two deadline and the year of service time option too. So we'd still have 6 MLB years of them left.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 If it's true, what it tells me is that the Jays think they can get something worthwhile for some of our relievers at the deadline. Either that or they're trying to hype up those two prospects in preparation for a trade, but imo that would be a mistake.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 It's funny reading about these pep talks from Eric Kratz. It's like it's the first time the pitchers have ever been told to throw strikes. Well it took Morrow years before he understood it's better to go 8 innings with 4 K's rather than 5 innings and 10 K's. Unfortunately he went back to the old Morrow last and this season...

Hill will cost to much, AA never makes that trade for an older 2B on decline who has poor defence. If we pick both these guys up we will lose some of our prospects that may pan out to be special.
BlueJaysGirl Verified Member Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 Agreed Yep, I agree here. Keep our prospects, get this guy, and let 'er buck. If the boys get hot in August, and that is a real possibility, we have interesting ball going into the playoffs and a real chance. I don't want to throw good money after bad.

You have to think we can get healthy again in a few weeks and start scoring more than one run a name. Our starting pitching has been really, really good. Guys like Colon won't really improve things.
