Half of our platoon really isn't working. Especially with Lawrie out of the lineup.

Our platoon half that face LHP is horrible. None of them can hit!!

I think it's the front office that is to blame because Gibbons can only play the guys on his roster.

Since Lind and Fransisco, to some extent Rasmus, are horrible against LHP... they should be platooned, but what can Gibbons do when Tolleson, Glen, Mastro, and Pillar cant hit worth a s***?

does anyone think the jays will make a move in the next week to help right things?

No I don't think they will make a move

They are facing Lefties 4 out of next 5 games. The only one they have a chance of winning is against Brad Mills, That is if he is still starting or if its Shark or Hammell

I cant see this team in its current state beat a LHP

A right handed second baseman or third baseman would be more of a fit before another outfielder. Justin Ruggiano could be a good piece but if the outfield is healthy he would only be a bench bat.

Ideally, it would be a guy that can play 2B against both L/RHP, but I don't expect anything to happen. Fact is that this team has the same holes it had in 2013 so I don't expect AA to find solutions in the next 25 or so days. If AA does make a trade, it'll probably be an overpay.

Something needs to happen. If the team end up below .500 at any point this season it will be embarrassing. Not even because i think all hot streaks should go till the end of the season, but because the division is so wide open not taking the extra step is just... ugh.

The lefty lineup is awful to the point that I'd rather see Lind and Rasmus out there instead of guys who literally cannot hit regardless of the advantage

If they crash now, they will be the laughingstock of Toronto. The Naysayers will have a field day

Amazingly enough they are 12 - 12 against LH Starters. Beating some good ones too Moore (3-0), Oberholtzer (5-2), Lester (7-1), Hamels (6-5), Lee (10-0), CJ Wilson (7-3), Ross (5-3), Doubront (7-4), Lester again (7-2), Kazmir (3-2), Pomeranz (3-2), Bedard (10-5)...and no wins against a lefty since May 26th.

count how many of those games Ed hit a HR and well see how it ends up. Ed carried the team on his back all of may. when he is hot it doesn't matter if it's a lefty or righty. Lawrie not being in the lineup really hurts.

they cant carry 3 guys who cant hit no matter who is pitching and 3 guys who only hit against RHP.

The Jays should go out and get Justin Ruggiano.

I've been saying this for three years. I f***ing love Ruggiano. I thought they lost their chance when the Marlins traded him away, but now he's on the s***** Cubs, so it's still possible.

The naysayers' argument is usually to expect failure because of the lack of success in the last two decades. That's a fallacy and those people are morons.

That said, this team needs to play better. Being 38-24 in early June and potentially hitting .500 at the All-Star break is pathetic. It's one thing to lose first place, since competitor success is not controllable, but it's another thing to let yourself sink back to the pack after building a comfortable record.

I said it 2 weeks ago and will say it again, this team is looking like 2013 post 11-game winning streak. I know some think this is a chicken little attitude, but it's not, I'm just describing what I'm seeing. It's not the end of the world, but they're 9-17 since they got to 38-24, that's a slide in my book.

I also said after the rough stretch in Apr/early May when they blew those leads, that if they stuck with it, they'd be alright since I thought they were playing good ball, but the BP was just going through a horrible stretch.

Right now, the more concerning thing is the way they are or aren't playing. Of course, the holes are being exposed more because some of the regulars are banged up or on the DL which we knew was a concern coming into the season.

Anyway, we'll see what happens.

The only saving grace is that the run differentiation. To me that is the number I look at.

I entirely agree with you. Though I think something needs to be done roster-wise, and soon, getting out of this swoon depends on our top 4 stringing hits together.

I also said this road trip leading to the AS break could see them ending up at .500 by then. If they can somehow go .500 on this trip, it would be an accomplishment.

Well, for sure. It would help a lot if Reyes got going, he's been looking bad for a while. Rasmus could do better as well. No doubt they need to address 2b/3b, but we've only been saying this since last year so I won't hold my breath.
