I'm not sure that's good reason to pinch hit with Gose, he shouldn't EVER be pinching hitting for ANYBODY unless he's the last available player and it's for a pitcher in a National League Park,

I agree here... Loup should have been in first, But after he made that mistake he compounded it by not giving McGowan a quicker hook...

 

But... In McGowans defense , two errors didn't help. Fundamental baseball and he'd have been out of the inning still with 2 or 3 run lead.

 

I would also add not bringing in Gose as a defensive replacement to start the inning.
